Vidya isn't overrated. Maybe the amount of press and attention she's getting after TDP is overwhelming but she is anything but overrated. She is hailed as the best actress we have right now not just because of TDP, but also Ishiya, No on killed Jessica, Paa, Parineeta, Guru and even her role in a subpar movie like Bhool Bhulaiya - She did it brilliantly.

The Khans are overrated. The Kapoors are overrated. Ms.Balan is not.

I don;t think Vidya is overrated and i certainly believe that she deserves all of the accolades that she is getting .. she is finally getting her due... BUT that is no reason for me to mock those who differ from my opinion... People have different opinions, likes and dislikes - who am i to mock them for it? (i'm all for disagreeing though 😆 Asin is better than Vidya? NAAA 😆

And its for this reason that i dislike the last lines of Shobha De's article ... that bit about stars and their fragile egos was unnecessary... but oh well .. its her article .. her opinions..

@Katrina and Bebo and all ... well they sell and hence they bag the endorsements...

That was a really insightful article...I love how the actresses are feeling the pressure and have to bring her down so they can still look good

The way I see it, Vidya has always chosen to do performance-driven roles, barring some films where she tried (and failed) the glamorous genre. So she'll continue on that path, and with TDP, directors I feel would want to capitalize on that. The leading men like the Khans may never want to star alongside her, but she didn't get this far by latching on to them either...so I think her future in Bolly is good for now.

Overrated or not, she is the best and most consistent actress we have today with a remarkable filmography.

Kareena is good but she is choosing trashy works that downplay her acting skills than anything else. Priyanka...dunno what went wrong, but she is no longer at the center of attention and media coverage like a year or two before she used to be. So yea, she may not be the greatest actress around, but compared with what we have, she is probably delivering the most consistent performances.
