Just another formula flick that goes down in the lists of 'been there done that', Hum Ko Deewana Kar Gaye is nothing out of the ordinary. One would think that it's a hotch-potch of several parts from several different films, but giving the benefit of the doubt to writer-director Raj Kanwar, this venture does little to make its audience all deewana .
HDKG is the story of Aditya (Akshay Kumar), an automobile engineer engaged to a career-oriented lady, Sonia (Bipasha Basu), and Jia (Katrina Kaif), the daughter of an industrialist who is soon to be married to business tycoon Karan Oberoi (Anil Kapoor). Aditya goes off to Canada for an assignment, meets Jia there and the rest of the story is exactly what you think it is.
HDKG can test your patience and has great IQ (Irritating quotient, we mean). The script is loose and the movie unnecessarily long. It could have been made racier, crisper and shorter. The songs in the film have been inserted only to enhance its commercial value and form no part of the narrative. Director Raj has tried hard to produce the audiences with some laughs, and though he succeeds a couple of times, it'll be well if he only laughs off this effort of his.
HDKG is a wasted opportunity. If you miss this one, you certainly haven't missed much.
