this is an excerpt from a review. I don't think we were supposed to feel sorry for Silk but rather the story was told blatantly.

on the flip side I did feel sorry for Silk..as I did not feel she was succesful in what she wanted to achieve..by comitting suicide she proved her haters right! and even in the end the last line was 'don't know if she lived the right way or wrong way' basically the character was not glorified enough..she lost throughout the movie and in the end

^ you know, I think that was the point. Silk wasn't supposed to be glorified but rather her vulnerability to be shown.

have u watced the movie?? there is nothing wrong in showing someone vulnerable...but showing how she lost everything and died in a very undignified manner...not making any point...bringing no change...so what made her so special to make a movie?? I think the movie could have been better written...plus some sequences were very filmy and did not look realistic at all...at times it did not even look like the 80's..hated the stupid dance off sequence at the party also!

^ meh say what you will, it still beats the many other illogical stuff in recent BW movies. It's not perfect but all in all pretty entertaining. I actually found the dying bit hear-drenching. It truly added to the drama.

^^ I am not saying that death should not have been shown..the general script was good...however the screenplay...and the underlying message was quite unclear which made it annoying...sure Bodyguard was the epitome of brainless stuff...however the underlying motive was enteratinment...which was delivered through Salman...dialogues...and good picturised songs..so it made it ok!

The Dirty Picture Collections Jump On Tuesday

Wednesday 7th December 2011 11.30 IST

Boxofficeindia.Com Trade Network

The Dirty Picture got the benefit of Muharram on Tuesday as collections were around 5.75 crore nett as against the 5 crore nett on Monday. The film had jumps of 20-30% in places like UP, CP Berar, CI and Rajasthan while other areas jumped less but still most were better than Monday.

The film has so far collected around 40 crore nett in five days and is likely to have a 48 crore nett week one. Adding the regional version collections and it will be a 50 crore nett week.

The Dirty Picture is a huge hit in the Maharashtra area and should do a 14 crore distributor share in Mumbai circuit and a 2.50 crore distributor share in CP Berar which in the case of CP Berar is the same as films like Dhoom 2 and Raajneeti.

I think TDP had a similar approach with Entertainment but also had some "brains" either way that's a bonus in today's cinema

the script and the way things were shown. It was not totally based on true story. Plus there can be many great stories that are not told right like Saat Maaf Khoon. The story itself is from an acclaimed book but it still failed to impress as a movie. Of course I have to attribute a lot of the sucess of TDP to the actors esp. Vidya for making it seem legit.

Vidya was good...however the screenplay, story, characterisation and direction could have been better!
