Do u remember?

A lot has already been mentioned about the sultry Mallika Sherawat's fleeting presence in martial arts star Jackie Chan's latest flick THE MYTH. Mallika had speculated enormously about her first over-seas break that turned out be nothing more than a ticking cameo! But hey do you really think that size really matters? If yes then think again! Wait here I don't mean to defend Mallika, but would like to chalk out a few actors whose career actually began with doing these tiny cameos!

Take Mallika for example! Though KHWAISH was her debut film as the lead actress, her first film was Vashu Bhagnani's JEENA SIRF MERE LIYE. She just had a passable part in the film. Who could have guessed back then that she would take the industry by storm with her defying dare bare exploits becoming one of the hottest sex sirens in town!

Now let's go back in time! Back-in-the-news today is one of the talented actors in Bollywood: Mithun Chakraborty. The endearing 'disco dancer' before becoming a star had made some brief appearance in films like KHEL KHEL MEIN with Rishi Kapoor and also a negligible role in DO ANJAANE starring Amitabh Bachchan.

Then our very own 'bhidu' Jackie Shroff, also one of the finest actors in the industry, made a transitory walk-on in Dev Anand's SWAMI DADA. The film featured him as a sidekick to the villain and in the entire film he does not say even a single line, the role was that slender. Then of course he went on to become the HERO of the masses and continues to be a respected actor till date.

The most lovable baddy Gulshan Grover had a transitory part in Sanjay Dutt's debut film ROCKY. Before that he had made a substantial presence in Boney Kapoor's HUM PAANCH, but got overshadowed by the likes of Mithun Chakraborty and Naseeruddin Shah, as his co-stars. He had even played some sizable roles in Ramsays' horror flick VEERANA. But later on this 'Bad Man' made a terrific impact with his roles in RAM LAKHAN and SHOLA AUR SHABNAM. He had even made a cameo in the Hollywood flick THE JUNGLE BOOK and went on to play some meaty roles thereafter in over-seas productions.

And not to forget Manoj 'Bhiku' Vajpayee who was thoroughly impressive in Shekhar Kapur's BANDIT QUEEN, though the role was slim. He then made a momentary presence in Ram Gopal Varma's DAUD before Ramu offered him a cracker of a break, that of Bhiku Mhatre in SATYA. The rest is history! Manoj will now be seen in an English film THE WHISPERERS with Rahul Bose as his co-star. He is currently busy in hosting the game show KAM YA ZYADA that is quite popular on television nowadays.

So, these were just some random recollections. All these guys took off by playing small-time parts and later went on to become the biggies! So with Mallika doing a cameo in THE MYTH can't just be ruled out (even though the film has crashed at the box-office). You can't predict, while a lot many actors are not able to make it big, Mallika's 'myth'ological role might just pull her up into the league! You never know coz' life is full of surprises!
