Actually, she begged SRK to cast her in Robot (Endhiran). But Robot didn't happen with SRK. So I think he cast her in Ra.one to make up for it.

Kareena Kapoor desperate to act in Shankar's 'Robot'

From what we hear, Kareena Kapoor is very eager to be part of Shankar's Shah Rukh Khan starrer, Robot. So much so that the actor paid a personal visit to SRK to convince him that she is just right for the role.

Known to prepare painstakingly for roles, Kareena doesn't shy from doing what it takes to deliver her performances. Obviously, she's going the whole hog to ensure that this plum role, too, falls in her lap. After Asoka, Kareena hasn't had a chance to act opposite SRK. The buzz is that she really wants to act opposite SRK. Our source reveals, "Ever since Kareena heard that SRK was the leading man of Robot, she immediately made up her mind to do that film too. The actor visited SRK's Bandra home, Mannat, and in the presence of Gauri Khan, said that she should be considered for the female lead in Shankar's Robot."

Kareena has always openly admitted that she is an ardent SRK fan. In fact, earlier, she went out of her way to accommodate Asoka in her schedule to be part of the SRK project. The source said, "She was last paired with SRK in Asoka. They were then seen in Karan Johar's Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham but they weren't opposite each other. Since then, she wanted to work with SRK. Shankar's Robot, she felt, was a good opportunity to work with SRK once again."

For those unfamiliar with Shankar's Robot, the director had originally planned the film with Kamal Hassan in the lead. However, the role finally went to Shah Rukh. Although Shankar has chosen to remain secretive about the story of the film, but insiders have it that the film is a science fiction. "It is a futuristic and stylish movie," our source says.

Shankar's Robot was a better film. Wish it was made in bollywood. Tighter script and all.

Wether she begged him or not...SRK made a great choice for picking kareena. Am sure he knew she was the right choice. Knowing the kind of business man srk is (recalling kicking aish from his movie and replacing it with rani)...he wouldn't have picked her just because she wanted to be in the film. Like many said on this post...no one can stand neck to neck to a khan better than Kareena. You go girl.

Robot is a landmark movie in Indian cinema. Not only it was awesomely made, the idea and the concept was completely original and unique, unlike Ra.One. It would have been made in Bollywood had SRK not questioned Shankar's script. I mean the man is a creative genius with a 100% success track record. I still don't see what SRK saw in Ra.One's flawed script or even the flop director Anubhav Sinha. May be SRK thought he would have control over Sinha, whereas Shankar would hate any kind of interfering!

Regarding their roles, Robot was centered around Aishwarya's character. Whereas in Ra.One, it is all about the game and the father-son relationship. Agree, Kareena had a few moments and she did well there. In fact, she was better than SRK was in the whole film.

Centered around Aishwarya because the both Robot and the scientist fight for the girl. The Robot turns evil because he can't have the girl. It's all about the girl. The plot would not exist without Sana. But how was Ra.One centered around Kareena? It is mainly about Subramaniam creating the game, the fight between Ra.1 and G.1 and the father-son relationship... and then of course, Chammak Challo!

SRK didn't say no to Robot because of the script.

As for srk choosing ra.one over robot,i think he had other reasons. Warna who would spend 100+ crores on a director who made Dus and Tathastu n stuff...and not on the director who has never given a single flop in his 2 decade long career...??
