not really...rediff reviewers along with reuter's trashed it...

But even if we discredit TA and komal nahta's reviews, khalid and Nikhat kazmi are fairly reliable and they gave positive reviews...they've been critiquing films for more than a decade now...so the response is mixed i would say...not totally negative so far, but we have to wait for more reviews to see if the film is really bad or not...

Expectations were sky-high. People started comparing "Ra.One" to Superstar Rajinikanth's blockbuster film, "Robot". But Shah Rukh Khan didn't let speculations shake him even a bit and kept his eyes on his work. Hard work pays. He has lived up to the expectations and "Ra.One" has come out really well. Film buffs can't ask for a better Diwali treat than this.

SRK: Here comes the superhero

Story:
Shekhar Subramanian (Shah Rukh Khan) does all he can to fit into the world of his son Prateek, but just can't. Prateek finally gives up his efforts to make his dad cool. At this gloomy juncture, Shekhar succeeds in designing a superb game and happy times return to the family.

Surprisingly, their lives take a U-turn following a hard drive crash. They are supposed to play the game but the game starts playing with them. The rest of the film revolves around whether Shekhar and his son can get out of the mess.

Performances
Shah Rukh Khan plays the character G.One and not the title role Ra.One. He is wonderful as always. He fits into the role superbly. His energetic performance is commendable and the scenes like the train-chasing sequence and the climax are jaw-dropping. His chemistry with his son Prateek in the film is wonderful. His popularity among the children will surely increase by manifold after the release of the film.

Female lead actress Kareena Kapoor has given yet another splendid performance. She played the role of Shah Rukh Khan's wife Sonia Subramanian in the film, and she fits the role to the T. Her performance in the song "Chamakchallo" is simply stunning.

Arjun Rampal, who plays the title character of "Ra.One," has raised the bar for villains. He has given a solid performance. He looks stylish and has done his role with ease. Child artiste Armaan Verma, who plays Shah Rukh's son Prateek Subramanian, deserves special mention. He plays a crucial role in the film and he has given a splendid performance. Sanjay Dutt and Priyanka Chopra have added spice to the film and the presence of Superstar Rajinikanth will make his fans go crazy.

Director Anubhav Sinha deserves all the accolades for making such a good film. He brought the best in Shah Rukh Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Arjun Rampal and child artiste Armaan Verma. He did everything right from direction to screenplay to action sequences. Music by Vishal-Shekhar is also cool with songs like 'Chamakchallo', 'Dildara' and 'Raftarein' going down well with the music lovers.

Verdict:
"Ra.One" is an excellent superhero film; a complete entertainer. It will entertain both the young and old alike. Don't miss this Diwali treat from King Khan!

Ra.one - one word - fantastic. And in 3D - Awesome. Just seen my first 3 D movie. Arjun, Kareena and Srk - unbelievable ! Must see in 3 D

SudhishKamath Sudhish Kamath
Ra.One: Makes Enthiran looks like a classic despite having better visual effects. As @shilparathnam says Even Rajni can't save this one 4/10

Dhananjayang Dhananjayan Govind
Ra.One is a good high tech film & worth watching for the making & Shah Rukh. But Enthiran was far more convincing with a good plot & scenes

Mani ratnam's Raavan was so much better... HATE the super slim SRK #RaOne

Star Cast:Shahrukh Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Armaan Verma, Arjun Rampal
Director:Anubhav Sinha
Producer:Gauri Khan
Music Directer:Vishal Dadlani, Shekhar Ravjiani
Genre:Sci-Fi
Story

Story: The story is about a father and son's relationship. Shekhar Subramanium (Shahrukh Khan) tries everything possible to impress his son, but Pratik (Armaan Verma) believes that his father is not so cool. In the effort to impress his son, Shekhar designs one game which changes their lives. The game which was meant to be played starts playing with their lives marking the entry of Ra.One and G.One.

Story Treatment: With months of promotional activities, Ra.One has tremendous curiosity value attached to it. The story juggles between Sci-Fi and Bollywood drama and leaves the audience enthralled in parts. The first half depicts various shades of a father-son relationship whereas, post interval the action unfolds. However, the script tends to lose its track by making the efforts tasteless. Comparisons with Rajinikanth's Robot and SRK's Ra.One are bound to happen, especially in sequences built upon the same track. For instance, the train chase sequence brings back flashes of Chitti and his robotics skills when compared with the aerial G-One.

Star Cast: Shahrukh as Shekhar was innocent, crystal and natural. King Khan as G-One tries to carry the aura of superhero with immense poise, but is caged as a 'family superhero' rather than messiah of all. Kareena Kapoor (Sonia Subramanium) as always manages to be easy on the eyes with her great looks and acting calibre. She also makes one realise that even in a superhero film, a heroine is must. Armaan Verma is a superb pick for the role as he sunk into the character perfectly, even sometimes outshining established stars like SRK and Kareena. Rajinikanth, rightly referred as the 'Real Superhero' in the movie as well, steals the show within few seconds of his entry and makes the crowd clap and whistle with his mere presence. Arjun Rampal walks away with the cake for his deadly looks and impresses as the real bad man. Sanjay Dutt and Priyanka Chopra are wasted. Satish Shah's presence induces few funny moments. Shahana Goswami plays her part well.

Direction: What's noteworthy about Anubhav Sinha's work is the fact that he has paid attention to the quaint essential bit on the technological front and also infused the right amount of emotional dose required for the movie to be termed an entertainer. The director makes his star cast look the best, yet loses few points as the track is led astray. At the same time, Anubhav understands the demand of Bollywood fans and tries to keep all the elements.

Dialogue/cinematography/music: Dialogue are concoction of emotions and a message which runs throughout the movie, almost forming its soul- Victory of good over evil. Cinematography is excellent, while music is decent. Chammak Chhallo which is already riding high on the popularity chart lives up to the charm created, while Dildaara displays the love and emotional saga between Kareena and Shahrukh.

3ups and Down: Ra.One is surely crafted as a kids' entertainer. Compared to Chitti the emotional side of G-One takes a hit. SRK's fans who are missing him on silver screen after 'My Name Is Khan', can grab this opportunity to see their hero in a never-seen-before avatar. The movie is a joyful cinematic experience for game enthusiasts.

After reading the feedback, It seems the film, contrary to a serious superhero flick, is just any other commercial bollywood film with high production values and visual effects.

That's kinda disappointing coz they COULD have done so much more. They had the money and technology, why not go all out and make something mindblowing?
But I guess they decided to stick to masala entertainer, and that's where people seem to be getting disappointed.
As long as I have a good time, I'll be happy.
Going this weekend!

^ Yeah well, it kind of killed it for me. Now whenever I watch the song, I'll be imagining Arjun instead of Kareena.

Also, it would have been better if I learned about this while watching the movie.
