A brand new bridal collection, city's model brigade and of course a big queue of guests who literally elbowed to make space for themselves. That was the scene at a prolonged fashion show at INS Vikrant last week.
However, Rakshanda Khan made all efforts to keep the yawning audiences entertained.
Amongst the front row socialites, we spotted chief minister's wife Vaishali Deshmukh and son Amit admiring the lehengas and sherwanis.
On the other hand the master designer Hemant Trivedi indulged in some bonding with Dhiren Shah and Ash Chandler.
A bagful of Amisha
Did you know that Amisha Patel swears by Louis Vuitton? The actress claims that she has a treasure trove of over 100 designer bags from the popular international brand.
A little birdie informs, "Amisha would starve but prefer investing in a new bag every season. And she has been continuing the tradition from her college days."
In fact, she has also been attending high profile Louis Vuitton brunches in Paris with the likes of Uma Thurman.
We hear that she has arranged the flashy leather bags according to colour codes in her wardrobe and spends a few hours every Sunday cleaning them with a piece of muslin cloth. No wonder, Amisha babe sports the best bags at all the dos.
Sohail ka 'jadoo' chalega?
We always knew Sohail Khan's passion for boxing, what with his action-packed debut, Maine Dil Tujhko Diya and his later release, I… Proud To Be An Indian showing him in the ring in more than one scene. Sohail's next, Aryan takes that passion further, and makes a movie out of it.
He plays a champion boxer in his next, Aryan; who leaves the game at the peak of his powers, goes through personal turmoil, and returns to the ring, years later.
Hollywood boxing stories have hit the bullseye more than once. Surely, if history doesn't work in his favour (closer to home, Mithun's Boxer (1984) did reasonably well), maybe his Jadoo getup will pull in the audiences.
Kolkata Calling: Celina to sizzle Tollywood
It's raining awards left, right and centre. Celina Jaitley made a quick trip to Kolkata to pick up a statuette for her so-called convincing performance as a supporting actress in No Entry, by Kalakar Awards, founded by cultural-minded Kolkatans to honour artistes and technicians from films, both in Kolkata and in Mumbai.
Apart from hogging heaps of ethnic Bengali delicacies, what kept her busy were a few script narration sessions.
Now, stop raising your eyebrows, she's all set to act in Bengali films, or should we say Tollywood. We hear she's been overwhelmed by a particular script and is on the verge of signing the dotted line. We shall keep you posted on that.
Qazi ditches Ekta
Negotiations with Ekta Kapoor and Fame Gurukul winner Qazi Touqeer have fallen through. Qazi was to appear in Balaji's Kaisa Yeh Pyar Hai on Sony in 40 episodes of the serial, but now his character will be performed by someone else.
So what happened? Says Ekta Kapoor, "It is true Qazi won't be acting in Kaisa Yeh Pyar Hai. Sony had asked us to take Qazi and chased us to put him in. We worked on a story but Qazi backed out as he got a film offer. Now Sony is getting us someone else for the character."
If things had gone according to plan, Qazi would have been playing a rock star in the serial and performing with Kripa (Neha Bamb) on the shows. Qazi's character would have been shown as being a big fan of Angad's who comes to learn singing from him. Balaji had planned to have a huge music concert where its actors would perform.
Rang De [V]
Meet Naresh Iyer who recently topped his achievements with Roobarooo in the much-awaited Rang De Basanti. It all began for this B Com graduate from SIES College when he caught A R Rahman's eye in Channel [V]'s Super Singer competition, who chose him for the rendition of his Tamil song - Mayilkregey.
There has been no looking back for Naresh since then. Commenting on his experience working with A R Rehman, Naresh says, "It's like a dream come true.
Channel [V]'s Super Singer has indeed provided me a spring-board to sing and work with the genius of A R Rehman. He is a thorough gentleman and I would like to thank him for the immense opportunity given to me."
