I agree with you. The way the last scene was, it gave a different feel though it wasn't what you would expect. Like it made you accept it.
I was very young when I first watched the original. I remember crying for days because of the ending 😆. But at the same time, it was quite an eye opener for me.

I'm happy this movie is doing well so far. I didn't expect a John Abraham starrer to open big, but Genelia deserves it!

Yet, despite limited screens & limited shows [3/4/5 shows at plexes], #Force takes a forceful start. Fri *early estimates* Rs 5.25 cr nett.

Force Has Fair First Day

Tuesday 13th September 2011 9.30 IST

Boxofficeindia.Com Trade Network

Force had a fair first day of around 4.75 crore nett as per early estimates. The film did well in parts of the country but was let down by business in the multiplexes of North India. It performed well in the single screens of UP but the multiplexes of Delhi and Punjab were low.

The performance was good in places like Gujarat, Maharashtra, Bihar and Orissa. The films fate is dependent on whether it can show good growth on Saturday and Sunday. Normal weekend growth can take it to 17-18 crore nett weekend which would be a decent total.

Force is the biggest John Abraham solo lead opening and the collections are just a bit lower than his biggest multistarrer openers New York and Dostana.

So, Taran says 5.25 cr is a forceful start for Force but a 7.5 cr for Mausam was a dud?...

Oh and I tried watching Mausam today, couldn't do it... it was too slow for me but still something really is fishy in the way Taran talked about Mausam...

Masand: 'Force' has a weak central performance

Cast: John Abraham and Genelia D'Souza

Director: Nishikant Kamath

John Abraham shows off his abs of steel playing a fearless cop committed to wiping out the drug mafia in director Nishikant Kamat's Force. Judged strictly by action-movie standards, this remake of the Tamil hit 'Kaakha Kaakha' delivers the goods. After all there are some slickly edited hand-to-hand fight sequences, a few breathless chases, and a little too much blood spill. Yet, because of its cardboard characterization and a weak central performance, you're emotionally disconnected from the hero, and never invested in his pain.

The film goes from a legitimate thriller to a typical revenge drama without much warning, when Abraham's character, ACP Yashwardhan, and his anti-narcotics unit take out a major drugs kingpin in a carefully planned operation, but fail to account for his bloodthirsty brother. That vengeance-seeking sibling (played by an impressive Vidyut Jamwal) goes on an unstoppable killing spree, targeting not only the cops who finished his brother, but their wives as well.

Speaking of women, our hero initially resists the overtures of a sassy social worker (played by Genelia D'Souza), but subsequently submits to her infantile charm. Like 'Ghajini', this film calls for you to invest in their romance so it can justify its bone-crunching, bloodsoaked climax. But unlike Tamil stars Suriya and Jyothika whose chemistry sizzled in 2003's Kaakha Kaakha, John and Genelia at best muster up a cutesy, PG-13 romance.

The only moments that work in this film are the relentless action sequences; and while John Abraham looks good when he flexes, a little loosening up in the dramatic sequences might have helped.

I'm going with two out of five for director Nishikant Kamat's 'Force'. This film is brawn po*n, at best.

^^I havent seen the film but the points rajeev brings up seem reasonable..

tht is exactly wht i feared when i first saw the trailer..

John dosent have the acting chops or the charisma to pull off a central character...

...plus, seems like genelia is playing her usual bubbly self in the movie which im starting to get sick of...the original had a strong, confident, mature woman as the protagonist and tht added a lot more to the romance...but genelia seems too much of a cutesy teenager and john too wooden for any chemistry to come across...
