Director Ravi Chopra finally seems to have found the actor who will play the husband of actress Rani Mukherjee in his film Babul. The role was previously offered to Abhishek Bachchan , Akshay Kumar and even Shah Rukh Khan . But none could agree to play it.

Director Ravi Chopra finally seems to have found the actor who will play the husband of actress Rani Mukherjee in his film Babul. The role was previously offered to Abhishek Bachchan , Akshay Kumar and even Shah Rukh Khan . But none could agree to play it.

Why? While the reasons cited are that these actors were not in a position to give the required dates, there is grapevine that the real reason for not playing the role was that it is a character that is second fiddle to Salman Khan , who plays Rani's first husband in the film.
In Babul, Rani plays a woman who is widowed after the death of her husband (Salman). Amitabh Bachchan plays her father-in-law who wants his widowed Bahu (Rani) to resettle in life.
John will play the man in whom Bachchan finds as a prospective groom for Rani.
The film also stars Hema Malini as Bachchan's wife.
