Is Emraan a serious contender for Top-10 slot?

Once tagged as someone who could entice only the mass audience in B and C canters, Emraan has briskly made his way to the top, giving serious competition to his contemporaries. If one has a quick look at his future crop of films, it is evident that he is doing good enough to be catapulted to the astral league.

'To begin with, let's leave aside the Khans (Salman, Aamir, Shahrukh), Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, Hrithik Roshan, and Saif Ali Khan - they are in their own league. From the younger crop, for different roles, Imran Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Shahid Kapoorand Emraan Hashmi are the main leads that producers have in mind while casting,' says an industry veteran who confirms that Emraan has made an impressive journey to the top.

While for now, everyone's focus is on THE DIRTY PICTURE, Emraan's next big release after a hurricane called MURDER 2, while the year ahead promises to be quite eventful as well.

On being contacted, Emraan expectedly refrained from commenting on his accentuated star status. 'Everyone has his own space; I have my own. I am doing good films and not really thinking about numbers or sticking to solo or multi-hero projects. If a story has good enough justification for the presence of two leading men, I am game. You can see that in THE DIRTY PICTURE and SHANGHAI, right?' he asked.

One look at the line up of Emraan and his contemporaries pretty much paints the true picture:

Imran Khan - Currently playing - MERE BROTHER KI DULHAN. Film in hand - EK MAIN AUR EKK TU

Ranbir Kapoor - Immediate release - ROCKSTAR. Film in hand - BARFEE

Shahid Kapoor - Immediate release - MAUSAM. Film in hand - Untitled project with Kunal Kohli, co-starring Priyanka Chopra

Emraan Hashmi - Immediate release - THE DIRTY PICTURE. Films in hand - SHANGHAI, JANNAT 2, RAAZ 3, DAAYAN, MURDER 3

Emraan is definitely being more noticed than when he first started out. I'm not sure of him being in the league of Imran, Ranbir, and Shahid though.

Emraan is underrated. I think he is hundred time better than Shahid Kapoor, Imran, Abishek, John even Salman Khan when it comes to acting.

Idk why but i don't see Emraan or Shahid with Imran and Ranbir...they aren't in the same league for me.

i loved emran in once upon a time in mumbai and he is a brilliant actor specially when it comes to doing negative roles. murder 2 was ok but waiting for the dirty picture. he was always underated as an actor n never got big opportunities like other big stars.

he better be...if flopsters like Abhishek bacchan can be in the A league, then i dunt see any reason why emraan shouldnt...hes had more blockbusters n hits than many of the big "stars"..

On my flight to India, I was listening to music and was tired of skipping and picking songs so I picked an album called Emran Hashmi collection and it had 15 or 20 songs I think and swear to god, I didnt have to skip a single song, all of them were a pleasure to listen to and were charbusters. His presence in bollywood is just not a pleasure to the ears but to other senses as well 😉...as in, he is a treat to the eyes, an amazing actor, very natural with his dialogue delivery and expressions etc etc. He took my breath away in Awarapan with his brilliant performance. Good job Emran, you are much better than the so called Ass listers, ooopsie, I mean, A listers.

Oh... Well... Emraan stand in line... There is space for actors like John in the top 10 list but an actor of Ajay's calibre is not ranked in the top 10 of the BO rankings... With the three Khans, Ajay is a deserving one to be in the top 5 rankings...

When someone like Ajay does not figure in the star rankings then I dont see Emraan getting an A lister status anytime soon...

Just having couple of hit movies or couple of 100 crore+ movies is no longer a criteria to get into the top 10 spot...
