Don't get carried away with the title, this is taken from an old article in 2002 which claimed that Ameesha Patel could well be this generation's Madhuri Dixit. At that time, Ameesha was riding high on the success of Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai and Gadar and was touted as an all rounder until the media attention geared towards her personal life and controversies followed; breaking family ties, relationship with Vikram Bhatt, etc.
Both Madhuri and Ameesha are outsiders and shared the same secretary, Rakesh Nath, who was willing to groom Ameesha the same way he groomed Madhuri (whom he produced films for). Do you think Ameesha could've been a big star if she concentrated more on her film career? Or would you blame the media for invading her privacy? Unlike in the past, when only the work you deliver mattered, Bollywood media nowadays is becoming very much like Hollywood. Clicking stars in their most candid moment and liking them up with whoever they're seen with.
