akshay made fun of shahrukh tht men shouldn;t worry abt complexion...smartness is important than fairness...but today almost 60 % of young boys in metros uses these creams and soaps GROSS

how is that GROSS.. ? skin should be taken care of whether you are a man or a woman.. curious as to what the men in your household use to wash/cleanse their face..? however, fairness creams are a no-no for me..

To an extent, Pinto is right. There is a fixation (not all, but a lot of people) in trying to become white skinned. However, I disagree with her highlighting Indians only. I would say it's an Asian thing where some people are obsessed with getting a more whiter skin tone because they believe that it will make them look more attractive. It's absurd thinking but there are people that obssess over it. And these bloody fairness creams don't exactly help the cause.

But then you also have some (not all) white people that are also obssessed with the colour of their skin, thinking it is inferior to be darker. The world has progressed but you still have people that hold that level of thinking. I was reminded of this myself a few days ago...Anyway, brown/dark skinned people should just embrace their colour.

It's not even an Asian thing, South Americans and especially Black people have the same problem too...basically the "white" people have a fixation for being tan and the naturally tanned/dark people have a fixation for being lighter, especially for females. Indians have this notoriety for it because of the fairness cream ads as well as the matrimonials for "light/wheatish" skin etc

She's right about the skin color issue in India...I have seen so many Fair and Lovely creams at people's homes and it makes me cringe...but I didn't like her tone at all. "So from doing cheesy stuff like that to doing something as fulfilling as Miral – I think I've come a long way."...Someone remind her that she's still a one hit wonder who still has far to go

Anyone can badmouth anything and they can change too. Life is change and growth. Frieda owes NO allegiance to a system that would have dumped her on the crap pile. NO ONE owes jack to anyone, country. parents job whatEVER that wishes them ill.
And Frieda got as lucky as Blake Lively or Amanda Seyfried or any of a thousand white girls who got lucky in America and had 15 minute roles in big budget pictures. Trouble is no one runs them down for not starring in bloody Mildren Pierce and WE would be justified to do so since we MAKE films like Mildred Pierce here---that would be films that ride on the shoulders of a female character and demand more than a bloody ton of makeup and the ability to look 20 and fit the fashion of the times---which last time I looked all came down to LUCK.
Honestly you don't think a woman's physical conformity to the fashion of her time and place denote some specialized training or scholarship do you?
It's ALL luck at the outset...it's what you do with that luck afterward that seperates the girls from the women, and Frieda is using her chance to the utmost. Looks like the girl has SOME smarts at least.
And by the way---why are people falling over themselves to denegrate Frieda and put her opportunities down to "luck" when they don't do the same for any broad who has the pre-birth "luck" to have her Indian parent sleep with a white person and either impregnate or get pregnant by them?'
Being born half white is LUCK and totally out of the hands of the person in question...but oddly...no one mentions that little happenstance as being luck, even while those people are having opportunities THROWN at them left and right for something as far out of their control as whom their parents bedded.
Interesting...

I took Shahid's name because I remembered he was the one featured in the article, if Shahrukh also endorses fairness cream then boohoo to him. One more thing there is a huge difference between soap and fairness cream, soaps are for basic hygiene, so I don't see what is so wrong if he endorsed Lux soap.
