I think they shoudl also have focused more on the tashan trio's adventures, rather than trying to mix in bhaiya jee and those totally over the top action sequences into it. They got so lengthy, and kept taking focus away from the story.

NO. Critical acclaim is reviews by critics.
Hence CRITICAL acclaim.

I define it as the latter! enough said!
On the whole, TASHAN is one of the weakest films to come out of the Yash Raj banner. This film has gloss aplenty, but no soul. At the box-office, the film will join the ranks of JHOOM BARABAR JHOOM, LAAGA CHUNARI MEIN DAAG and AAJA NACHLE sooner or later… Business in Overseas will also be weak despite a popular cast.

Seriously, STOP FORCING YOUR DAMN OPINIONS.
If you disliked it, then good for you.
Kindly let US have OUR opinion and stop trying to PROVE us wrong.

And I absoluted hated tashan. so I dont think that generalisation is correct.

Its one thing to do do crazy movie like Tarantino but another to do a crazy movie without a script. Tashan's screenplay was so diconnected, it was all over the place.

And it didnt help that the star cast got carroed away with the over indulgence and lost the plot.

hey pragya...im a tarantino fan too..

but i guess i liked the way tashan fused masala with tarantino taking...i liked the way the screenplay was presented with each separate story unfolding individually...kinda like in Yuva...which also was commercially and critically panned...but i do agree that the film has a disjointed plot and that it is over indulgent...but it was still entertaining enough for me...

different opinions i guess...

I have no clue what you just said. Like there was no point in this post.
Your emoticons are distracting and dont help either.
Try again, but this time, put proper sentences together, not images.

Tashan opened to mixed reviews. Most of the Indian critics criticized the film's lacklustre script penned by director Vijay Krishna Acharya. Critic Taran Adarsh from indiaFM gave the film a 1.5 out of 5 rating and concluded that it was "...one of the weakest films to come out of the Yash Raj banner."[26] Rajeev Masand from CNN-IBN described the film as "...a road movie...that is going in all the wrong directions."[27] On the other hand, Sanjay Ram, who gave the film 3.5 stars out of 5, wrote, "The film, though with many slips, is thoroughly engaging and entertaining. The vibrancy and spunk keeps it alive and loaded."[28]

U.S. critics were favorable. Rachel Saltz of The New York Times wrote, "The giddy camera work and busy visual effects would be exhausting if their excess didn't fit so well with the movie's tongue-in-cheek tone".[29] Frank Lovece of Film Journal International found it "crowded with dizzying visuals, dry humor, cartoonishy violent set-pieces that play like Indian spaghetti Westerns, and gorgeously shot musical numbers.[30] Maitland McDonagh of TV Guide described the film as "a delirious crime romp [that] borrows pop-savvy attitude from Quentin Tarantino, stylized gun play from Sergio Leone and stylized hand-to-hand combat moves from Hong Kong action films. The result is a nutty, ridiculously entertaining neo-noir pastiche with lavish musical numbers."[31]
