Preity zinta might be people;s favourite of YRF films, but it is also true she never got those great skills to boast herself of, what special she did in her career actually...one kal ho na ho...which was 2 men;s show totally...and she was just sandwiched...ok even then it was her best job...

and did she really act in salaam namaste..if u call 'some petty fighting scenes and some smoochng in form of kissing; really acting then yaa..she is really a great actress sure...

in most of the films she kept shouting loud...and her voice is really horrible...the only film after kal ho na ho where she was admirable was Veer-Zaara,

now if she wants to come back...start picking good roles and do good films...waise bhi she doesn't have a market of her own...and why only her the other 90's beauties follow her behind...take example of JUHI CHAWLA...hits and flops dont matter for her...she keeps doing what she loves...and dats all

She came back with a bang in the item number Kajra re..and YRF who threw her out from Veer Zaara gave her ,her comeback vehicle DHOOM 2.

While the other 2 faded away..Aishwarya continued to flourish with the best projects even after her marriage..

And to date, is unarguably the second most popular actress after Katrina Kaif!

I agree, but I don't think she was unsuccessful in her international stint.

In those two years, she had a successful English film called Bride and Prejudice, earned the "most beautiful woman" tag, was on TIME cover, in the 100 most influential people in the world list, made it to Cannes jury, made it to Madame Tussauds, made it to several chat shows including Oprah and Letterman, became the most recognized Indian in the world. I would hardly call this unsuccesful. 😃

Plus, she never permanently left Bollywood. She had at least 3 Hindi films coming up every year even during her international stint.

And when she completely came back... she came back with a bang... Kajra Re, Dhoom 2, Guru, Jodhaa Akbar, Sarkar Raj... and by the time she came back, Rani, Preity had disappeared. Kareena, Priyanka, etc. were her new contemporaries. 😊

I feel bad for Priety and m not even her fan to begin with..Have always loved her outspoken nature offscreen..I never thought she was over diplomatic or boring like Rani..Its personal choice and I prefer actors being frank and honest instead of being fake.Yeah she was not a great actress but decent when compared to likes of Deepika/Sonam.She could play contemporary roles even better than Rani M .Yeah but cant carry off epic sort of roles like VZ..This forum definitely has something against 90's actrsses..Everyone will get old, audience may get bored of them..I m sure PC/bebo/Anushka will also have to bow out one day so there is no use playing the blame game..Even without ipl, surgeries rani's(even after being chamchi of adi, khans) or bipasha's career are not going great guns..Priety shouldnt have done all those botox surgeries though she was naturally pretty with those dimples ,smile and skin tone

Ash is definitely most popular indian actress globally..But its unfair u guys claiming she and Kat are the only popular actresses ever in history of Indian cinema.Every era of bollywood movies had popular actresses..Youth were equally crazy about Mads like in katrina's case back in late 80's..From the 80's its been like
Sridevi-Madhuri/Divya bharati-Juhi-Karisma/Kajol-Aish/Rani-Bebo/Kat/Aish
I think Kareena is also as popular as Ash only second to Kat..please dont ask me to post any articles as proof or quote..its my opinion and let it be:)

She took up IPL after 2008. And she didn't have a single hit after 2004-05. It's more like she took up a new 'profession' because of the dearth of new oppurtunities.

Also, I have no clue why she took up that Harvard course when she was going to comeback and be an actor anyway?

@In blue: When she started with IPL she was dating Ness Wadia. She might have intended to settle down that point. Thats why she prolly let acting take a backseat. Or perhaps acting taking a backseat wasnt intentional but other things took priority and she didnt pursue Bollywood aggressively after she started with IPL. In the meantime other younger actresses got more popular while YRF favorites Rani, Preity got sidelined. YRF who were going thru a lean patch themselves and even they started casting younger actresses like Katrina, DP and Anushka. Even their old buddies like SRK, Salman, Aamir moved on to romancing younger heroines.
Both Rani and Preity had good chemistry with Abhishek. Its a pity they havent worked with him since a while.

The thing I liked best abt Preity was unlike her contemporaries like Ash, Rani she was upfront abt her personal life. If she was dating someone she admitted it though she never let the media pry. 👏👏👏Its a personal choice...but I prefer a more open attitude compared to acting coy attitude adopted abt some actresses.
Coming to success I disagree that Kat and Ash are the only successful actresses now. Infact I will say though Ash is always in the news she is hardly a success now. I forgot her last successful film. Among the contemporary actresses its Kat, PC, Deepika, Anushka, Kareena who are successful. But 5 years back it was Kajol, Rani, Preity and Ash who were the successful leading ladies...ten years back it was Madhuri, Juhi, Karisma. I am sure 5 years on some of the current lot will remain and rest will fade away.
Edit add: In terms of number of years I feel in the last 10-15 years its Ash, Kareena who have had the longest career spans. They might still be around 5 years on!😊

I think wat_up is confused. It's the industry which is sexist, not kshreya2002.

Hmm... that could be the case. She probably was about to settle down with Ness around that time and hence didn't pay attention to career. Now she has no rich boyfriend, no career, and at 36+, she isn't getting any younger, getting no offers, no one to support her, has to produce films for herself. I really feel bad for her. This industry is really cruel to some actresses.

It's your ACTUAL WORK that matters, where you give good performances. Hits are only to retain your popularity. And in popularity, Ash and Kat are topping almost all the charts.

And she did have 2 hits last year - Robot and Raavanan, which no other actress managed to.

@VanityGirl: Industry is extremely unkind. Look at Urmila. She was so hot when she did Rangeela. The world was at her feet. Now at best she gets to judge reality shows.
Thats why I adore Madhuri...who left just when she was beginning to fade away. Returns from time to time but ensures she never gets over exposed. She is already gone before you know it!
