I don't think it matters who is first choice for any films at the end of the day JWM is known as Kareenas' and Shahid's film.

Why does that matter? Priyanka wasn't the first choice for Fashion either! Preity Zinta wasn't the first choice for KHNH either. But all the girls..kareena in jwm, pc in fashion and pz in KHNH did great and won awards for it!

And am glad bobby didn't do it...because Shahid was perfect for the role and so was Kareena.

It matters because you've been stuck on JWM like the be-all and end-all of performances. It wasn't that great and it's not Kareena whose the only one who could do it. Karisma would have done just fine. And Preity perhaps better. Not only do I think so but even the film's director Imtiaz Ali who approached her first.

Sometimes they make sense other times they don't.

I dunt think the NA are rigged...they have gone to fairly deserving ppl in the respective years.

I guess you also have to take competition into perspective...The year these supposedly undeserving ppl won were probably the years where there werent any path breaking performances from the rest of the actors nominated either. So it becomes an "andhon mein kanha raja" situation wherein the best of the mediocre lot is given the award...not necessarily because he/she was AWSOME...but maybe just because he/she just didnt have much competetion..

Since no one watches every single movie released from every single region in india (like telugu, tamil, marathi, bengali, malyalam) etc..we can never really see who was in the nominations list to decide if it was a fair judgement or not...

Like i thought saif totally deserved his hum tum award...that year, he was comparitively better than vikram in anniyan, or surya in ghajini (which were apparently the top contenders for the award)...i dunt watch mallu films so i dunno...maybe a mammoty or a mohanlal gave a better performance...

The thing is we never know...because none of us watch every single film released in our country, we can never decide if the jury has made a fair judgement or not...

But most of the times, i think they have been fair...nothing disastrous so far atleast...

I think the year kareena had JWM and chameli, there were far better performances from regional cinema (like priyamani from paruthi veeran)...so its fair enough that they get the award because they were arguably better...

But tht dosent take anything away from Kareena as an actor...Most of the times, awards can just be about being lucky enough to have a mediocre competition...Im sure if tabu came out with a maachis or a maqbool in the last few years, none of the priyankas and kanganas might have won it...

Imtiaz thought Preity can do JWM better than bebo? Since when? When did he say that? Just because he offered her the film first that doesn't make it so. Am not stuck on JWM. I have been talking about CHameli too!

There is a thing called opinions...mine and yours are def different. We can agree to disagree. And ended here. THere is no point of going back and forth with each other. You keep repeating kareena is not a great actress, we get it. Do u have anything new to say?

At the end of the day, we all don't get what we want. I feel Aamir deserved an NA for Earth but he did not get one. Sigh!

But I was just going to say the exact same thing this member mentioned. Saif, although a great actor, only got the NA that year because his mom was in the jury. There is nothing to be proud about in that. Kareena deserved it for Omkara or Chameli but she did not get one. I don't think she deserved one for JWM. Although it will always be talked about as one of her best performances, she deserves a Best Actress award from Filmfare (even if it's rigid) but not from something like NA as it considers talent from all of India.

Kareena may have become friends with possibly everyone in the film fraternity but until one of them is amongst the jury of NA the year she is nominated for something, she may not get one. I don't think she will get one now. Like someone mentioned she does more of 'blink-and-you-miss-it' type of roles but she deserved one in the past, definitely.

So the bottomline is:

We CANNOT discredit PC or Kangana their rightful awards because if KK cannot win one despite having biggies in her pocket, the NA are not necessarily rigged every year.

My point proven, I can die in peace now.
