Day 24: A film that makes me feel guilty

Crash

For some reason Crash is just one of those movies that stuck out, hit me hard and haunted me. It is a realistic portrayal of the complicated race relations in the United States. As the lives of the characters intertwine with each other, they are all victims as well as bigots and racists at some time or another. It made me aware of my prejudices and judgmental behavior as an immigrant. Even though it did not portray it watching the movie made me aware of how hypocritical Indians can be abroad in terms of race relations. The movie shocks my conscious and makes me feel guilty. As a result I think I am a better person and try to see people for who they are and not their race, religion, nationality, sexual orientation etc.

Day 25: A movie from my childhood

The Never Ending Story

One of my favorite movies as a child was The Never Ending Story. I could watch it again and again, several times over. It is a beautiful movie. A great blend of mesmerizing fantasy fiction and childlike imagination. The thought of Fantasia sparked my imagination as a child, and thats where my love for fantasy fiction first took roots. I think Falkor the luck dragon is probably why I love dogs so much too. And oh did I have such a massive little girl crush on Atreyu. 😳

day 17 - a film that you hear often people talk about

The Shawshank Redemption

Whenever there's a discussion on movies, if not me, there is always that someone who talks off this movie. I mean you'll have to be a fool if you haven't watched this movie yet. That's how much of a masterpiece it is.

Day 26: A film I would watch to make fun of

Twilight

Forget would. I have watched it. Although we always talk about "Death to Cullen" shirts en masse at our viewings, it never came to fruition. It probably is moot anyways, Edward is dead already, but the fans wouldn't know that and argue anyways. I'm jealous of my friend who has the infamy of being kicked out of a Twilight showing.

I've read the books and watched the movie, so I can make fun of them. No fan can complain that I have not read the books or watched the movies. And please those who tell me I should like Twilight because I liked Harry Potter, shut it you blonde ditzes.

Here is my succinct summary of the books
1. Twilight: Oh my God, I love Edward
2. New Moon: Oh my God. I miss Edward
3. Eclipse: Oh my God. I love Edward and Jacob
4. Breaking Dawn: Oh my God, Jacob loves my daughter

Here is the highlight of each movie
1. Twilight: Rooting for James to actually kill Bella
2. New Moon: Hoping that Edwards suicide attempt is successful
3. Eclipse: GO TEAM VOLTURI
4. Breaking Dawn 1: Violent vampire rape sex which they totally edited out
5. Breaking Dawn 2: Demon child clawing its way out of Bella's womb which I suspect they will edit again

Oh yeah you can drool for the Quilete boys, but they are all gay just so you know.

day 18 - a film that you wish people would talk about

One of my fav. comedy movies in Bollywood. The actors were flawless, and yet still they didn't receive the appreciation that they should've.

Day 27: My favorite Animated Film

Finding Nemo

Who says cartoons are for kids? Anyone of any age can enjoy a good cartoon film. Pixar has done a phenomenal job with animated movies. With some good scripts, delightful characters and some serious technical imagineering they have created some of the most charming fun for all ages animated flicks in the past decade. While Toy Story is their most popular one, my personal favorite is Finding Nemo. It is such a cute, adorable and heartwarming story.

Ellen DeGeneres is a total riot as Dory.

day 19 - a film of your favorite actress

Jab we met

Kareena, Kareena, Kareena! I love Kareena. I don't usually have big time favorites or go around advocating for BW stars (unless they pay me), but Kareena Kapoor is amazing not just in looks, but simply as a human. I love her attitude, and the way she sticks up to the people she loves. In JWM, she played the character of Geet with perfection. No doubt I love the movie, and just because it has Kareena, this is the only Indian movie (other than Lagaan) that I've watched more than once. I can still watch it anytime and anyday!

Sometimes I think I missed out on the magic of Toy Story that American kids experienced. So many people have such fond memories of it. I bet Wal-Mart had tons of Buzz Lightyear and Woody action figures that holiday season. I was in India, and had to wait and watch it on VHS at home.
