Ha Ha, more shocking is that it's Karan Johar who's remaking it. Don't know how true the news is but I think it's time SRK tries something like this. One of the best ones he played on screen was Amjad Ali Khan in Hey Ram.

It's just that we are so used to seeing him portray the same characters that we don't believe in his acting prowess. I do believe that he is a fine method actor and his best is yet to come, and that is if he actually tries different things at this juncture and markets it well.

^ oh he was wonderful in Hey Ram, and he should step out of his masala comfort zone but i think physicality also plays a big role in how a character is portrayed, and i dont know if SRK is the right choice for Adaminte makan Anbu. He has done the lead muslim guy card, but it was predominantly overshadowed by Johar hamming it up with the script and the feel of the movie in general (my name is khan).

Salim Kumar was perfect in AMA, so much so that i don't think SRK portraying the same character would measure up to the original. I agree he can afford to play around with his script choices a bit more, especially now, but i think a remake is probably not the best idea, and if what your saying is correct, a remake with johar would be a colossal failure.

day 19 - a film of your favorite actressMore than the actors, it's their characters that are etched in mind. Sometimes it's just their poise, style and demeanor that I find remarkable. It's a difficult choice still if I have to choose one then I would go with an actor who played art house as well as mainstream characters with equal panache; a rare feat for any actor in Hindi industry.

I remember seeing this movie long time ago on Indian tv. Funny that Umbartha became Subah. Umbartha in marathi means "raised part of stone at the doorway" My hindi fails me at this point as does my memory.

It is a Jabbar Patel film. There was another film "Jait Re Jait" from Jabbar Patel, where Smita Patil was the lead. It had her playing a tribal divorced woman. The songs were really cool in that film. The story telling was more like a documentary though.

Day 02: Film that reminds me of a friend's comment, that I am yet to decipher.

Rangeela. I watched this film in theatre with a group of my college friends. This friend sitting next to me laughed out loud in one of the songs.. dunno whether it is the title song or tanha tanha.. and he commented " Man.. even her nose moves !!!" Errr.. to this day I haven't figured out what that meant and he wouldn't clarify either, though I pestered him for a long time.

Anyhow, this film with its tapori lingo " ac idhar ghuma" and a fairy tale feel, reminds me of the days in college ..
