Interesting article.

Some poitns I agree with, some I disagree with. For instance, what do ambitious girlfriends have to do with him not being happy?

Yeah luck factor is a major reason.

But I agree with the article in teh sense that he just never tried hard enough. He is too chilled out, laidback. Just loves going with the flow.

And disagree with his personal life going wrong with kareena.

I dont even think marriage means that much to him that he's going through some inner turmoil because she wants to wait before tying the knot. They're living together as it is, so why would he be upset?

And he's said so himself, that kareena's ambition has rubbed off on him too, and was one of the main factors that pushed him to finally launch his own production house, even though he had been thinking about it for a long time.

Doesn't matter, he is doing great now...with a lot of interesting films lined up. He seems happy to me with bebo to me. And his career is going great.

I think he has his own niche....we cannot expect everyone to become superstars like the khan trinity because then, the word "superstar" would lose its meaning.....A lot of factors go into the making of a superstar and saif maybe just felt short of a few of those qualities to give him that kind of popularity...maybe he just dosent establish that kind of connect with the masses.....still, hes a reasonably popular star and an excellent actor...

he has his own set of loyal fanbase/audience and is doing well in his own way.....

Smarie, someone was discussing the meaning of superstar on another forum, and they pointed something out. They said a superstar is someone who has established an onscreen personality that people go to watch again and again. Examples of Shahrukh's romantic avatars and even Dabangg being an extention of Salman's persona.

I dont think Saif has that kinda onscreen personality, simply becuase today, he dabbles in so many differnet genres and roles. At one point, yes, he did become the typical confused slightly angrez romeo of the silver screen, but thankfully he's past that now.

I think you're right. He has his own place.

yeh like my dad keeps telling me whenever i dunt top the class...

hes like...if everyone is expected to top the class, then wht the heck are gold medals and stuff for???

similarly....if everyone who acts is expected to be a superstar, then the word superstar would lose its specialty....only a few ppl who have an uncanny connection with the audience and the masses are given that tag...but tht dosent mean everyone else is useless....ppl are special in their own way...as long as hes getting good offers, good roles and a fairly good box office record and is respected as an actor...who carez if hes a superstar or not...?

sanjeev kumar, amol palekar, guru dutt etc did not recieve the kind of stardom like their contemporaries amitabh and dharmendar and raj kapoor....but they are still remembered as good actors....

and i agree with the whole persona thing...srk had the raj rahul romantic hero, salman had this "badass hero" image, amitabh had "vijay deenanth chauhan" type of roles, aamir had, well, this "intellectual" type of an image, katrina has this virginal unattainable princess image, akki had his comedies and screwball roles at one point to get the superstardom...

saif dosent really have one such persona which can pull the masses i guess...

He didn't have a release in 2010.. other than that.. who cares.. he should be happy that he was able to revive his career so late in life.. very few get to do that.. and he is dating the hottest girl in town.. and he is a nawaab.. what more does he want? There are others with bigger issues in life.. than him. 😆
