Are yu\ou serious ? in bollywood masala type film end with biggest BO number .Peeple in india love these style and when one man beat 20 enemy everyone will clap at the end .The last example is dabangg which make india people gping crazy anhd choose the film as the best of the year and you tell me they hate masala films .In bollywood the masala action and masala entertainment are what people in india looking for .

i don't think we hate masala movies...otherwise films like dabangg never made it so big....also masala movies r the voices of aam junta...so thy will always be there !!!!

the we i was referring to, was India forums bollywood section...i know the general audience loves masala movies...how else can they be blockbusters then?? but my point is...why dunt we, on this forum love them?

Hate Masala? On the contrary, masala potboiler Dabang was the highest grosser of last year. So, this article is moot. Idk why people complain when they sense a little bit of change. India still churns out mindless, idiotic masala movies all the time. LSD, Dev D, Udaan are exceptions not the rule.

Yes, I hate masala, I've always hated mindless entertainers. Did not like DDLJ, KKHH when I first saw them and don't like them now. Oh and yes they are masala melodrama in my eyes. And lets not talk about Govinda, Rajni movies, they are trash.

Did I mention: In my opinion?

Well...you can't have your cake and eat it too ALWAYS. If you're gonna make films devoid of any intellectual stimulation, then no you won't be taken seriously by critics. The same can be said for independent movies that only get critical acclaim but do not enjoy blockbuster status.

Since you have people on this forum in mind, I think people have different tastes in different things. I don't find South Indian actors goodlooking or heck almost all bollywood actors look bad in my eyes too. But I'm not gonna go and question other people's tastes, who cares? I find Govinda's films trash, there are others who like it. Different strokes for different folks.

Couldn't agree more.. smartie.. I have a lot to say on this issue.. but i wont say it.. coz its of no use.. masala cinema will continue to exist.. people will continue to watch it.. people will always love to hate it.. its the core of any cinema... how i view it is that everyone starts out by watching masala cinema.. but as their thinking progresses.. they move on to other types of cinema.. coz masala cinema stops satisfying them.. so they have got to or move on to something diff.. something deeper than the regular song and dance..and when they don't find it anywhere.. then the rants for masala come about.. 😆 i feel bad for people who rant about masala.. coz all they are trying to do is that they are trying to find more meaningful stuff.. which is hard to find in bollywood.. 😆... but i would say its good that a new crop of film makers are going beyond the masala and making diff stuff.. people like VB.. anurag kashyap.. i dunno other names.. coz i don't watch such movies.. lool..so there are people out there making stuff for masala haters..so good for them.. as for me.. i don't think i will ever get over masala cinema.. i might rant about it here and there.. but i am still into it strangely.

I hate masala, as a genre, because it is soooo abused.

People churn out heaps of steaming REFUSE under the name of masala =/ I hate how directors think that a hot actor, a hot chick who's okay with wearing butt-emphasizing dresses all throughout the movie and having virtually no dialogs, a sexy song here and there, and a dash of C-grade jokes, can all substitute a good story.

And yet, it's done only sooo often.

exactly Dabang is just a highly over rated movie.. I cant dare to watch it again!! except a few songs which r worth listening.. thats it!
