Why do we hate masala so much? - Page 5

I'm one of the few here who like most of Akshay's comedies😆
And I was crazy about Om Shanti Om when it came out too😛


Honestly I have no idea why members on IF hate masala films....I love them because I know there's only a small chance that I'll get bored or disappointed

I don't hate masala..it just has to be done well..especially when it comes to comedies. The last few big-budget comedies to have come out of BW have been so horrible..they're just trying to hard. It's like they're saying: I cracked a joke, so you better laugh!

What's the definition of a Masala movie again? Would BBB or JWM count as masala movies?

As long as it's a good movie, then why not? I ENJOYED main hoon na, OSO, Garam Masala, Hera Pheri although they were highly unrealistic movies. I dont give a rats ass if it's not serious cinema with a subtle script or anything like that.

Having said that, people cant dish out a crap fare like TMK and call it a masala movie. I cant like a movie just because it's "masala", it has to be a well-made movie.

i am not at all against ''masala'' movies. In fact, i have never been able to make myself go to a theater to watch a film like Guzarish or Pipli Live, for the simple fact that they are sort of ''educative cinema'' n when i pay a sum to book a seat in the hall, i do that for relaxing myself n for enjoyment. I can get enough info about a quadripligic or farmer's suicide on net for free...so why pay a sum for that, when it's not even enjoyable?😳.....No doubt these are good movies n such movies should be made (for the evolution of Indian Cinema), but people like me can't go n watch them in theater. We better wait for them to be telecasted on TV. But yeah, am super excited to watch a Tanu Weds Manu or Band Baja Barat in the cinema hall, even if am not particularly fond of it's actors. 😃
