zainab,...šŸ˜†

disclaimer: this is my opinion...u dunt have to agree with it..so live and let live

well...madhuri's "legendary acting" works are limited.....but ive heard she was very good in mrityudand....she did well in pukar too where her character had a bit of grey shades and also anjaam....but as far as i remember...there are very few "powerful performances" from her... she is more known for her dancing skills and beauty and grace and yada yada....

as for rani M....i dunt think a lot of ppl look up to her ofscreen, given the reports of her being rude and obnoxious to "common ppl"(me incl)...and yeh,...i dunt get the big deal about her as an actor either....

i fume with rage whenever they put madz and rani in the "nargis, waheeda, sridevi, shabana azmi" bracket....fine put them with hema malini or neetu kapoor (although neither of them have half the grace of the former two).....but comeon!!! they were popular at their peak yes....but none of their performances are something which ppl can recollect 20 years later and be in awe of....no i dunt think HAHK, DTPH, beta or HT, Black or VZ are examples of "timeless performances".....half of them were cringe worthy and the other half were "meh"...

^^ šŸ˜†šŸ˜†šŸ˜† I can imagine Katrina, Sonam, Deepika as well hailed in the next thirty years or so.

Ok, so I shall not discuss the pregnancy scares and STDs. šŸ˜› Will have that chat with someone else in person.

I will not lie, I am not fully exposed to all of Madhuri's works, but whatever I have seen of her makes me think she's a beautiful actor with minimum acting capabilites. She's able to coat that well due to her star power, due to her elegance, due to her charisma. Rani on the other hand is really erratic...she may do good work in the future, but her past hasn't been diamond. Really..we are going to judge her by average films such as Hum Tum and Saathiya? šŸ˜•

Hey, can I get the link to that topic? I'm interested. Fan-wars are always fun to read. šŸ˜†

On topic, yes Rani is thoroughly and vastly overrated, but [personally] I'd still rate her above Madhuri Dixit in the acting department. I just don't get the big deal with Madhuri's acting.

She is considered to be the 'Queen' because at that point, Bollywood badly needed a consistent and decent actress whom they can praise and make their 'puppet' and Rani fit all the criteria. If it were someone else in Rani's place, she too would have gotten the Queen tag. You can say Rani was sorta lucky.

I won't be surprised if 10 years latter Sonam and Deepika are labelled as the Goddess of BOLLYWOOD.🄱

Madhuri is not even the greatest dancer....I am stunned by her screen presence, charm, and elegance...but that's all really. She's no cinematic brilliance.

Madhuri:

Well, I grew up watching her you know? So I have a soft spot for her 😳 She comes across as very sweet, humble, elegant, and dances like a dream (and no actress after her comes close to her in terms of dancing imo). Is she overrated? Hell yes..was she the best actress of her time? No way..she was always known more for her beautiful smile and her great dancing skills than her acting talent..She didn't experiment a lot..stuck to commercial cinema. Personally I loved her in HAHK...I think she was very good in Lajja also..
Rani:
I always liked her better onscreen than offscreen..honestly I really dislike her offscreen personality. Rani had talent but she was heavily overrated just like any other actress who knows the act in acting (every performance is hailed like the bestest in the world--ex the recent NOKJ (she was good but nothing pathbreaking imo))..

It pains me to know that Manisha Koraila is mentioned no where today in Bollywood or even amongst us. Madhuri is pale in front of her.
