It was variety galore at the theatres last Friday. And as we had predicted earlier, none of the film would prove to be a black horse at the box office. Prakash Jha's 'Apaharan' was a realistic film, while 'Home Delivery' and 'Mr Ya Miss' were lighthearted comedy flick.

It was an interesting turning point, as we observe that the comedy films, which had been achieving stunning response at the box office circle this year, failed to make a mark this Friday at the theatres.

'Apaharan' revolving around the kidnapping issues, fetched a decent opening. The film is doing well and the good will of Prakash Jha after 'Gangajaal', should fetch it critical acclamation and commercial benefits too. The film opened in full houses in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Bihar. The film shows promise and is expected to keep the business going in the days to come. After a long time Ajay Devgan might fetch to his credit a hit. His performance in the film has been appreciated. Nana Patekar has also been acclaimed for his role. Bipasha Basu keeps going with her success ride after 'No Entry'.

'Mr Ya Miss' failed to create any spark. Starring Antara Mali, Riteish Deshmukh and Aftab Shivdasani, it received a poor opening throughout. Inspired from the Hollywood flick 'Hot Chick', the subject is path breaking and the concept is interesting. However the dreadful direction and lengthy story adds to the disadvantages. Antara Mali stance as a writer and director doesn't seem to work as of now.

'Home Delivery' directed by Sujoy Ghosh of 'Jhankaar Beats' fame also received lukewarm response. The film got a poor opening, weak plot and poor dialogues adding to the woe. Viveik Oberoi, Mahima Chaudhry, Ayesha Takia, Boman Irani delivered good performance and the music of the film is also getting appreciated.

This Friday hitting the theatres will be biggies from the closet of big banners. 'Kalyug', 'Neal N Nikki' and 'Ek Ajnabee' are awaited!
