What's cooking between Salman and Kangna?
What is Double Dhamaal all about, according to you? I cannot talk much about the story right now. I am working with Jaaved Jaafery, Riteish Deshmukh, Ashish Choudhry, and Arshad Warsi for the first time. The sets are very different and the film is a comedy so it is a new experience for me. The script is very different from what I have done before. Everybody in the film is doing dhamaal and having fun. That is what the film is about. |
After Knock Out, this is your second film with Sanjay Dutt. What is your character like? Double Dhamaal is a comedy and Knock Out is a thriller. I play a journalist in that film. I play the role of Sanjay Dutt's secretary in Double Dhamaal and Mallika Sherawat plays his wife. The mahurat shot is not part of the film. As the film progresses, a love triangle develops between Mallika, Sanjay, and me. |
You have done intense roles in Fashion, Raaz TMC, and most of your other films. Are you trying to shift to comedy? Doing comedy is a very big challenge because the kind of acting and approach is different. It looks easy but is difficult to do. I want to see how audiences react to my doing comedy. I always try to experiment with my looks so that people get to see a different me in every character I play. I have fun doing it. If I looked the same in every film and did the same thing, I would get highly bored. |
Have any comic actors inspired you? I like Sridevi a lot as a comic actor. She has great comic timing and brings an innocent and child-like quality to her performances. She has influenced me a lot. |
What kind of 'dhamaal' do you do in your life, when you are not shooting? I think whenever I am with my family, the atmosphere is very relaxed and comfortable. So we sit together and recall memories, jokes, poke fun at each other, do mimicry, and have a great time. It feels very good to have people at home or be with my family. |
Anil Kapoor and Aamir Khan were present at the mahurat of Double Dhamaal. How do you feel about that? This seems like the best phase of your career because you are doing big banner films. I did not get much time to interact with Aamir Khan and Anil Kapoor. I feel privileged to be in the same frame as them and that they were present for the mahurat of the film. I feel it is a big achievement for a newcomer like me because I have grown up watching their films. I will not say this is the best phase of my career but I think this is a very happy phase for me. |
Lately, you have been hanging out with Salman Khan. What's cooking there? Salman and I are doing a film together and it was supposed to start in August but it has got delayed. Mahesh Manjrekar is directing the film. Any stories about us being friends or more than friends are fabricated; they are just rumours. I am a very professional person. Salman and I have no personal equation. I have been very open about my relationships and my life, in general. If there is anything about me dating somebody, I will come out with it. People do not need to guess anything about me. |
