I find Aamir to be a great actor/director and I don't really think he's overhyped. I think that since most of his recent movies did extremely well, people have been talking about him quite a lot but he really does deserves it. He's a very versatile actor and can get into any acting modes, characters, and looks.

I personally find his older movies a lot better than his recent ones. He did great acting in Andaz Apna Apna, Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, Ishq, and Raja Hindustani. So, it's movies like Lagaan, TZP, Ghajini made him more famous and come more into the limelight. I think he was considered as a just another actor in the 90's because he didn't do so many films, just a limited amount of ones. Plus, he didn't used to attend any award functions, which he still doesn't but I think at this point of his career, people understand him more than they did before. Although, all of his movies from the beginning to current ones have been good.

Maybe he's not overhyped but some of his movies are....only my opinion ^^

He's one of my fav...i like him mostly cuz of his PERFECT choices of movies :) And offcourse...very intelligent person...

He is a good actor for sure but overrated in my opinion. There are other actors who are better than him in my opinion.

But I do appreciate the fact that he is a good director as well as a good actor.

My fav movies of him r Hum hain rahi pyar ke and Raja Hindustani. I didnt like his performance much in Ghajini but I loved the film a lot.

In my opinion he is not overrated he deserves all the praise he gets. & I forgot Ishq one my fav films of Aamir

I dont think he is over rated at all...there was a time when he did great movies , but media was totally gaga over shah rukh..aamir has always been sidelined, but its only recently when his movies broke box office records that the media have noticed him and his fan base has increased since then. He deserves every bit of the success he has achieved.

Although i must admit i luv his older movies, did not like ghajini and 3idiots much. But TZP was fab and i was really moved by it.

I think the only reason why some people feel he is overrated is - as some people have already stated , because it is only post Ghajini that the media and audience have touted Aamir as the BO " king " and there has been too much hype that surrounds him, his movies and his appearance. And you see everyone going gaga over him.Before that he was only considered a good actor but there was no "star aura" around him .

Yes , perhaps he overacts in certain places but keeps it very subtle most of the times. Hes not the best actor in the history of Indian Cinema IMO but amongst the current crop of actors he definitely stands out .

So far , I (as a fan) am happy with whatever he has done. But I dont mind watching him in an out n out romantic role ! Those scenes in Ghajini where he looks at Kalpana with a twinkle in his eyes , how he holds on to that bundle of money close to his chest as if his life depended on it or the last scene where he imagines the girl sitting with him..... 😍

people that are saying aamir is OVERRATED ..

i would really love to see a list of ACTORS *mainstream heroes* that you feel are better than him from his generation. only one that comes to mind would probably be AJAY DEVGN and that's really it !! the man is exactly what he churns on a regular basis.. GREATNESS ! in case of great actors, this guy is clearly the MOST versatile actor there is..

he was THE chocolate hero of late 80's and early 90's.. decided to break the mold by doing a TAPORI role in rangeela .. and wow wasn't that brilliant? after this movie I thought he was one of the most talented,versatile and courageous actors within the industry.this film is where he transcended to GREATNESS and stayed there...to be very honest,but one needs great vision to convey a character's journey...the use of body language and voice modulation is what separates the great actors from others. A few actors understood the value of it and aamir showcases this class in majority of his acts...he's an actor who has evolved time and time again and managed to deliver frequently.. he always had THE BEST script sense amongst any generation of actors.. he's getting exactly what he worked hard to achieve!

you reap what you sow! before he was known as a GREAT actor with a good star power .. now it all came to fruition.. it really takes someone like aamir's caliber to kick SRK off his "throne" in india like that as the most powerful STAR in the nation!

P.S. I HAVE NO QUALMS IN CLAIMING AAMIR IS THE BEST THING TO HAPPEN TO BOLLYWOOD AS A VISIONARY RENAISSANCE MAN!❤️

Over-rated😆 He isn't over-rated .. maybe over hyped can be sed .. But isn't tht hype justified seeing his body of work?😛

He is and always was a brilliant actor .. its only recently tht ppl have started taking keen notice of his films ..Earlier his work never got the attention it deserved .. now finally things looking up for him ..
Maybe thts y the buzz around him looks bit too much .. but he is not the one at fault is he ?😛

He is one actor who do every kind of movie n infact sum movies which othr actors think twice before taking up.

Maybe he goes over -broad in sum scenes .. but hey u can't deny tht he is a gr8 actor .. n frankly thr r very few actors frm current decade who can match upto his acting poweress😛
