Comedy, it seems, is the latest formula to a hit film, as after the success of comedy flicks like 'Bunty aur Babli', 'Garam Masala' and 'Deewane Hue Pagal', another rib-tickling comdey 'Home Delivery' is releasing this Friday (December 2).
Directed by Sujoy Ghosh, the much awaited film will probably go down in history, with a record number of guest artistes starring in it. It is a small story telling how it takes just a day to change a person's outlook on life forever.
Mahima Choudhary, who plays a South Indian superstar, Maya, in the film, said, "It is believed that the root cause of all problems is Maya. So, (my character) in the film also becomes a huge problem for the actor."
"The narrative of the film is very funny. You won't feel you are watching a Hindi movie. Even the songs don't go on for three minutes. All the songs are of one, two or three lines. Treatment of the film is very different," she added.
'Tarzan - The Wonder Car' fame Ayesha Takia plays a simple catholic girl Jenny, who is engaged to Vivek Oberoi. She has never done anything wrong to anybody and loves life, her family, her little sister Anju and everything else.
Talking about 'Home Delivery', she said, "It's a film that's not strongly based on a particular thing. It is neither just a comedy, nor a 100 percent romantic film. It is just about a boy and his problems, and the way they get sorted out. It is something that nobody has seen before. It is very hip, very cool, very new age and very ahead of time."
Sunny Malhotra (Vivek Oberoi) plays a 28 year-old journalist, who has carved a name for himself as a popular agony uncle named 'Gyan Guru'. He believes that he is a self-made man and has achieved everything in life without anybody's support. His belief strengthens when he gets an opportunity to write a screenplay-writing project for the most happening Bollywood director Karan Johar.
"It's a cool, new kind of film. It's progressive, it has got comedy, it has got some really nice emotional moments. But at the same time it is realistic and has no double meanings. It's a clean film, children can watch it, grandparents can watch it and there is no embarrassment," said Vivek.
The movie also features 51 year-old Michael (Boman Irani) who has sort of an inclination to lose every job in 2 days flat.
The director has managed to rope in an enviable list of artistes for guest appearances, including Karan Johar, Juhi Chawla, Abhishek Bachchan, Suniel Shetty and Naseeruddin Shah.
Music has been composed by Vishal-Shekhar. It is likely to set a new trend with a record number of 21 songs that has generated a lukewarm response from the audiences.
