What was so special about Veer Zaara?

I have read that Aish lost out on doing Veer Zaara and that it was very detrimental to her career. You honestly think I would have wanted to see Rani steal the show? Well, Rani did steal the show. Critics would have had a field day bashing Aish and praising Rani to the skies. Aish did not get along with Rani at this time. Aish did a good career move and working with SRK/Rani in the same frame would have been a nightmare for me. 😕
Preity was decent in her role, but anyone could have done it. Even Biphasa Basu could have done that worthless role. Mani Ratnam, Ashtoush Gowariker, and so many directors Aish has worked with post Devdas have given her better roles than Veer Zaara. Has anyone forgot Jodhaa Akbar, Umrao Jaan, Guru, and the recent Raavan? All these roles had more depth than Zaara anyday.
Veer Zaara was a lame movie and gave me a major migrane. I had to take a lot of aspirin to recover. Anyway, Veer Zaara was not a make or break for Aish. She is still on top today, whereas Rani and Preity are long gone. Isn't it funny how destiny plays out? Aish succeeded without SRK all these years! 😆

who knows ash could have got it and have added one more hit to her list, but that was not in her destiny, so she didnt get to be in the film

first of all what is the point of this topic?😕

and secondly Veer Zaara was in Preity's destiny n she was amazingly graceful n lovely as the willful Zaara..i loved Preity-SRK chemistry in it....and it was a beautiful story which for a change created a bond of love b/w these 2 warring nations instead of hate..
and u wanna know y it was a big deal to be in a film?
lol ever knew that being in a Yash Chopra movie is considered almost like royalty in B'wood? Ash MISSED THAT!😛

I have watched VeerZaara million times n every time i have loved it more..and Ash couldn't have added anything to it as she isn't that good in acting except looking good!

well and Raavan sure gave million more people migraines and lol check Box office results n a few days n see how good Ash's latest film is whereing VZ rocked😆 i fell asleep wat
ching Umrao jaan too!😉

i don't know if Aish could do anything special to VZ
but i damn loved the movie. and Preity was awesome.
it was meant to be her role, and that is why she got it.
and don't think that i hate Aish. cause i don't.
i like her too with SRK and loved Devdas and Mohabbatein.

I fail to understand what is being discussed here. Veer Zaara or Aishwarya.

VeerZaara was an amazing movie with a very beautiful and subtle story. I think it requires a certain maturity to understand that concept. Agree SRK was not very pleasing to watch in his role....( the aged version).

But in totality the movie rocked. And as far as Migraines are concerned...I do get them by watching those mindless GOVINDA movies..which are brassy and loud and thrashy.

Aish is an actress who needs a good director. Devdas, HDDCS, JA are her best works... I simply adored her in these movies.

So was Raincoat. Aishwarya needs a good mentor ( director) even today ..to get the best out of her.

I totally agree with the above post. Ash needs a good director to bring out the best in her and she is a typed actress. Her forte is serious roles - with lot of histrionics as in chokher bali or Hum dil....
I dont know which role were offered to Ash in Veer Zara ! I dont think she was suitable to be Zara. She might have done well in Ranis role .
Veer Zara is a good romantic movie .
Ashs being a part of it or not neither mattered Ash's career, nor the movie .
