Brit honour for Sajid Wajid

Buzz up!

While Salman Khan's last release Veer did quite average business at the box office, the duo behind the music of the film came good.

Weeks after the film's release, music from Veer is still a part of the charts. And therefore it comes as no surprise that composers Sajid Wajid are getting huge accolades. One such acclaim is from the British House of Commons.

"One day I got this letter addressed to the two of us. And I thought okay it must be some fan or struggler who wants to impress us. Then I saw a picture of the Queen on it," explains Sajid, "And then when I opened it I saw the House of Commons letter head. We were totally surprised! Obviously there is a huge Asian population that is rocking to our music in the UK. And one of them includes Khalid Mahmood –an MP from UK."

Sajid Wajid recently received a very pleasant surprise when they received a praiseworthy letter from the British MP from Birmingham Perry Barr. In the letter Khalid Mahmood has greatly appreciated the music of their latest film Veer. In fact they have even invited the two to House of Commons to honour them in the presence of Parliamentarians.

The duo is ecstatic over this honour and says it feels good to be appreciated by people from all over the world.

"We work very hard for the music we produce. Veer was not an easy film to compose music for. We had many sessions and did a lot of research. Sure there were films like Gladiator that we could have looked at but we wanted to do something that closely fit in with what Salmanbhai was portraying in the film. And we thank allah for allowing us to be this successful," says Wajid.

But not one to rest on their laurels, they are now composing music for Salman's next film Dabanng that is being produced by Arbaaz Khan.

"The music will surprise all our followers. Again it has something for everybody – for the kids, for the romantics.. there is a lot of fun but also a lot of soul in the stuff we have done," say the two.

Known largely for their close association with Salman Khan which has translated into them composing music for all his recent films, would it be fair to say that they produce their best stuff for the superstar only?

"See he is a great actor and a follower of filmmaking. It is great to be in the company of such a person and to respect him. And then when he in return also respects you for the work you do, of course you want o give him only the best. When we do films that star him, Salman actually sits on all the tracks.. he gives us valuable in puts. He wants to know why we are using a certain beat or certain lyrics so that he can enact them correctly. He always sits with his directors to see which tracks they are picking up. And not because he wants to be in control or interfere but because he understands what works with his fans. So when we work with him we feel so good that we can't help but turn out hit music," say the two candidly.
