Well I don't know whether this necessarily has anything to do with her image. Nothing wrong with pre-marital sex and there is nothing wrong with her voicing her opinion on it. And in any case the character she plays on screen isn't necessarily a reflection of what she is really like as an individual.
As far as saying these kind of things in public is concerned - the likes of Shiv Sena are always looking for an issue to rake up. But I wouldn't say that their tactics or ideology represent most, forget all, Indians.
