Just wondering -- has anyone mentioned Kay-Kay Menon yet? He is a really good actor but not really that appreciated. In Sarkar, I thought he stole the show every scene he was in but as expected, Abhishek and Amitabh walked away with the accolades and praise.

wat abt irfan khan? i consider him really a very good actor..

I cannot believe I forgot about him. Totally agree about his performance in Sarkar. He was also really good in Black Friday, Mumbai Meri Jaan, and Hazaaron Khwahishein Aisi.

Have you seen Last Train To Mahakali. Its a telefilm directed by Anurag Kashyap and that was the first time I saw Kay Kay on screen. He was really good.

I totally agree about the chemistry in Alaipayuthey. The scene where Shakti asks Karthik to marry her is another standout and much better than the one in Saathiya.

Haha, I was thinking of this last night before I went to sleep, but I had forgotten. Anurag Kashyap has always spoken well of Kay Kay, and I remember if it was his choice he would cast him in all of his films. Hard to argue with that, considering how much of a screen presence he has.

For your earlier post, I just wanted to say, wouldn't it be easier to say so many times in life, I blame the patriarchy and leave it at that? Honestly, the amount of times I have muttered that to myself are too numerous to count.😆

Irfan: his best performances have to be Maqbool and Mumbai Meri Jaan. Even while sleepwalking through a role like in NY he overshadows everyone else.

Ah yes, the man more undervalued in his own country of birth and appreciated more outside of it. Though it is hard for me to think that way when my friends, who don't even watch Bollywood movies are so impressed with him. But thank you for mentioning him, he is indeed overlooked. Maqbool is a classic film for me, and I am glad that casting inspired The Namesake and has led to so many opportunities for him in other places.

I think apart from Dev D, Anurag has tried to get Kay Kay to do all of his films so far. He wanted him for No Smoking to but went for John Abraham because they needed a bigger star.

Yes, I remember the blog post. He said that Kay Kay's wife Nivedita had to argue with him and convince him of the need for a bigger star. In fact everyone argued with him and eventually he tried to court a bigger star. By the way, this reminds me I still need to see Gulaal.😃
