No they are still around. They blow air on you and stuff...and these days they do it randomly while before everyone had to go through it (the airport that I use). So ya if u r wearing a skirt, you are in for trouble!

it puzzles me that if his name is on a list how come they did not detain him when he was in LA shooting or any other times? Why only in Newark airport and not any other airports. PS he has been to New York many times recently so why now?

Guess it depends on which airlines you're traveling with as well.

Like I know that when my family travels by Virgin Atlantic, their security isnt as psychotic as when we travel with American Airlines.

And yeah, its also just bad luck

Liek saif travelled to the same place 2 days back, and he wasnt detained, despite the fact that he had KHan as well as ALI in his name.

My uncle was called out for "a routine scan".

Guess what, he was Sikh. American people cant even tell the difference between Muslim and Sikh people.

This was on the news, a baby was detained because he had the same name as a terrorist.

Poor SRK, I cant believe it took them 2 hours. Heck, SRK is more popular than Tom Cruise!

I do agree with one thing though, when it comes to security, I guess everything is fair. Only to a certain extent though...

I suppose so...but the downsides are horrible as well.

I mean the humiliation one goes through is terrible.

In srk's case, it was just stupid, coz they wouldnt evne let him make a phone call for the first hour.

u kno wat . it is part and parcel of the whole scenario.

i giv an example ,if there is a theft in a jewellery store , every customer even the most affluent and from gr8 family r being searched .. it is really humiliating for the innocent ones bt thats wat yu hv to face ....

bt well , the rule shud b uniform for every1, for all ppl whether they belong to islam or christianity or hinduism or buddhism or sikhism.. every1 shud be searched and questioned n detained nt a particular sect. then no one will question the system and it wil b flawless

I wish I could be shocked, but I am not. And I have heard many stories like Encyedoll's and Riya's. Way too many. It is just the hypersensitive atmosphere, and I do understand why it is there. In such a system, profiling upon bias is par for the course. A kid I know had a name match, and was given a lot of trouble being questioned and all. But like tpam said, I wish it was equal for all. The glass thing sounds horrible though, wow!
