That's interesting, since he said something very different in the review. Here's what he said: "Most importantly, in LOVE AAJ KAL, she acts very, very well. Matching up to Saif is no mean achievement and she does it in several scenes. This should be the turning point in her career."
Personally, I think Deepika still has a lot of work to do. Neither her dialogue delivery nor her expression are up to the mark. But she still has a confidence about her that I think gives her an advantage over other newcomers. Everything else she willh hopefully learn with time.

Dude, I ain't a Deepika fan, I thought the girl could hardly act until her recent performance. Its just that no one has died and made Taran God on deciding who can act and who can't. The man has the most aweful choice in movies, I wouldn't touch anything he praises with a 10 foot pole.

OMG! after seeing the movie i can totally see how that came. i like Deepika for her hardworking and dedication but dude she have to lift her skills much much higher and i have to say that she is not the only one to blame for such aweful performance. Imtiaz is to extract that necessary emotion from actors.

She a beautiful barbie .... gorgeous.. very pretty !

But acting is a very very very long project for her.... for starters she needs to learn HINDI... no how to speak Hindi .. and ditch English for good... her dialogue delivery is really bad ... I thought Hindi was first language in schools.. why is it so difficult to just converse in hindi ... her dialogues in LAK were just very normal day to day words we speak .. it has to come very naturally... you dnt need to act for that !! (unless she was also raised in Germany as well. 😕 )

neways ...............

I can understand some ppl are highly frustrated by the fact that "kal ki aayi"/"bf stealer" Deepika Padukone, who everyone loathes with a passion, is bagging accolades from everyone(how unfairrrr, rite??). Don't try to dig too deep for the negatives...if Deepika has the potential to make a critic eat his own words, aam junta is her "daaye haath ka khel". Live and let live 😉

👏👏👏totally agree...
and I really dont give a crap about what these critics/bahsers say about her.🤢.because the truth is that Deepika is improving with every film Deepu is here to stay!😳 love you Deepu rock and shine forever😊

i saw her in OSO, BAH, CC2C and just now LAK....

her acting is getting better...but she does need to work on her dialogue delivery (like someone mentioned earlier)...

😆...no offense to deepz fans...but at the filmfare awards..it seemed like she was reading the news...straight face...no expression.... *sigh*

Like it or not, Deepika Padukone is a super star in the making!

The critics just find it tough to digest that such a gorgeous looking girl, with no industry background and virtually no godfather has managed to do so fabulously well for herself. On top of that, her off-screen behaviour is impeccable and despite the fact that the critics are not impressed with her, all the co-stars with whom she has worked sure seem to like her a lot!
Though I wouldn't rate her performance in LAK as award worthy, at the same time, Meera could not be played with so much panache and empathy by anyone other than Deepika. She combines both her flawless physical appearance with her obvious girl next door appeal and produces an almost magical effect! Without much effort, Deepika humanizes Meera Pandit's character to the T!
No hamming, no hysterics, no going over the top...a subtle, solid and simple performance...and that mind you is not an easy thing to acheive!
The only thing remaining to be seen is how versatile she can be...till now, all her roles have been more or less in the same footing, that of an Urbane, modern yet sweet Indian girl! Given the right role and some more brushing up on her dialouge delivery and Deepika without doubt would be unbeatable!

I am not sure why people think Hindi is the first language in Indian schools. Deepika is from Bangalore and the good schools there have English as the first language - Hindi might have been her second or even third language in school . That would equate to just 4 or 5 hours a week so its not surprising that her hindi is weak since its not her mother tongue. generally in the south the use of Hindi is limited to Bollywood and television. I would actually say English is more widely used there than Hindi.
