tashu_id or terenaina or whoever, name 5 current actresses that are here and are BIG and they started off not with some sort of connection but because of their acting talent.

I am not saying that she has done something groundbreaking work either, but I think there is a whole lot that lies between glam doll and groundbreaking - and personally I feel deepika lies somewhere in between as of now, but has the potential to do better (this is purely my opinion).

But what do you expect someone to say when they're asked what will you do if you lost your looks? No one will say I am here just because of my looks.

Yes both Sonam and Deepika need to prove themselves. But I don't think they really said anything that was so wrong or offensive - they just defended themselves when facing an uncomfortable question. Big deal.

Ok yes there is nepotism in bollywood - like there is in every other field. Look at politics for instance, big corporations etc. Its sad but true. These days all aspiring actors (if not a star kid) first get into modelling or beauty pageants etc. The fact is that talent sitting in a box does not do anything. People need to garner attention for their talent to get noticed. Again its sad but its not unique to this one field.

I am not disagreeing with your general argument. I just don't think those specific quotes prove anything about these two people in question.

i do not know who are you talking about when you say someone is a fan of someone because of their "honest answers".

i have no favorites. i watch all movies and appreciate good performances regardless of whose performing them.
