Deepika; I am here b/c of my talent

i been reading this forum for months now and i have noticed that there are some celebrity that can say anything and it gets made into topics that are pages long while there are other celebrities that can say the most controversial things and people ignore them. why? like for example, when ranbir kapoor said he used drugs before and had sex when he was 15, most people said good he's being honest. but when sonam kapoor said something about having a golden spoon in her mouth, she was showing off. let me make it clear i am not a sonam fan or a ranbir fan or a deepika fan. what is with these star kids and these model turned actors? just because you are a star kid, you can become an actor like that? or if you are a model, that's your gateway to bollywood? what happened to knowing how to act? back to the topic, i saw an interview with deepika with Koel and she goes "I am here because of my talent and not just my looks" really? tell me what talent? isn't her talent only to look good? and wasn't she picked to be in oso because she looks good? she also goes "I was never auditioned for OSO" ok so only when sonam says that it is a problem?? she is showing off? bragging off? if deepika say it is being honest? i am not saying sonam was right in what she said, but neither is deepika.

now back to "i am here because of my talent and not looks" what talent again? not here because of looks? didn't farah take her in the movie because she looked like hema malini?? didn't sid take her in BAH because Ranbir had the hots for her and because ranbir is raj kapoor's grandson he can pick his own cast? didn't farhan take her in the movie coz they needed a glam doll? didn't Imtiaz say deepika was a challenge and kareena could have done her role easily?

these newcomers need to stop making such claims and show what they are capable of doing first.

this is a serious discussion, do not bash please. i notice bashing is a favorite past time. i care for neither deepika padukone or sonam kapoor, but i have nothing against them unless they make such claims so i am not taking sides. i tell you how i see it.

When sonam makes such statements as "I do arty movies while deepika does hard core commerical movies." Of course people say that she's being honest. And she also says offensive and arrogrant comments but of course people say "Atleast she's being honest."

A lot of these statements have been taken out of context (just as I am sure was done with Sonam). First of all the talent line was a response to a very specific question in the interview - its not like she said I am the best actress on the face of the earth/or that good looks don't help.

And on the LAK facebook group, Imtiaz Ali has gone on and on praising Deepika, so that whole "challenge" thing is pointless. Imtiaz Ali also said that Deepika suited the role more than Kareena and that is why he picked her. And I am sorry but I doubt Raj Kapoor's grandson or not, any actor in his second film gets to pick his cast - there is no basis for making that statement.

The reason these topics go on forever, and people get hung up on one line from one interview is just because people take their love for their favorites too seriously. Personally I don't think either of them have said anything wrong or offensive. They both have their fans, and people willing to spend money to watch their movies - so they deserve what they get.

The reason Deepika said she'd like to believe she's where she is because of her talent is because Koel asked her what would happen if something happened to her face one day, what difference would it make? and Deepika replied in acting, you need to know how to act and not just be a pretty face! She said that yes, in modeling you do need to be good looking.

We have spoken to Imtiaz and he said, "working with deepika was a lot of fun. yes, she does put her head down and work. but also very perceptive, sensitive and respectful. she is also best friends with all in the unit by now." And he also said that the role of Meera was tailormade for Deepika, and that's why he didn't choose Kareena. He adores Kareena and definitely wants to work with her again.

i disagree. i think sonam and deepika both say the same thing but one knows how to put her words together to make it look diplomatic and one doesn't.

terenaina, please dont jump into conclusions. did i say deepika is ugly? i think she's very pretty. i have nothing against her. i watched all her movies. i think in a few years, she might be the next aishwarya if she makes the right choices but i do not like her comment about her being her because of her talent when she has said "i never auditioned for oso". how did farah know the girl can act? can farah see future? no. farah picked her because of her looks and i think she got extremely lucky that oso was such a hit. but if she debuted with someone less famous than srk, you think she would be as popular as she is today? be honest. i think at this time she has not shown great acting skills so she should keep from talking about having talent. she has to show her talent first. her roles required nothing but to look nice which she did a good job of.

now sonam. i also seen all of sonam movies and i think she's really pretty too. she says a lot of things that come out sounding ignorant and rude. i think she doesn't know how to be diplomatic. maybe with time she'll learn. like deepika i think in a few years, if she chooses the right movies she might be really big too. because like deepika, she is lucky as well. she is working with great people. but she shouldn't claim to be talking about talent until she proves it.

As for the bashing goes, I just love people who make topics in order to bash and then claim that only others do it. (not talking about anyone specifically)

Why these topics fill pages? - Because some people think that by putting other stars down they are somehow bringing their own up.
