Sonam Kapoor's metamorphosis as a fashion diva came a full circle at the Filmfare Awards ceremony when she became the only Bollywood actress to wear a specially-designed gown by Paris-based fashion house Chanel.

"I just kept staring at the beautiful basic but simple white gown that they sent me. Yes, I think I'm the first Indian celebrity to be dressed by Chanel in Bollywood. I'm so excited. I felt like Cinderella before the ball. Never before have I been so excited about dressing up for an event," said Sonam, who attended the award function.

Apparently, after seeing Sonam on magazine covers like Verve and Elle, Chanel voluntarily decided to send her a gown from their special-celebrity closet.

"That's right. My off-shoulder gown came from their special-celebrity collection," said Sonam who loves dressing up in light shades and avoids accessories.

"They just flew over three Chanel gowns for me to choose from. I liked the white one. I prefer light shades and I avoid accessories. They take away from the basic look of your clothes. And what Chanel sent me for the Filmfare Awards certainly needed no enhancement. It was divine per se," she added.

A lot of designers are comparing Sonam to Penelope Cruz. "It was Sanjay Leela Bhansali who first compared me to her. I think it's a huge compliment. It isn't as if I'm making a conscious effort to dress fashionably. I wear what I'm comfortable in," said Sonam.

i think showbiz is new to her...this whole world of glamour, so she gets very excited about dressing up, almost like a little girl...she makes sure to look her best at every even she attends...

she deserves it she's the best dressed women in last year and a half

Sonam herself looks nice but her dress looks like a ghost...seriously I hate these superficial big brnaded companies that dont even sell good looking dresses..

and PLEASE dont even start Sonam vs Deepika because both are great in their own way so please leave it at that and NOT create a 3rd World War

I dont like the dress on her either. Nor do I like her eye make up.
I loved her hair - very unique and pretty like fairy princess.

Sonam does look pretty in this. I think Tabu looked the best though, for Filmfare. =)

And please don't get started with the Sonam Deepika wars again! Sonam and Deepika don't argue as much as you guys do! =)
