I don't know how many of you actually sit down and watch the Golden Globes, SAGs, Grammies, or Oscars. I do. They have so much class, grace, so appealing, and NOT tacky at ALL. Everything from the intimate setting to the respect an award recipient receives. The way the stars walk gracefully down the red carpet. No tacky performances or usless awards. Actors are praised for hard work and not made fun of.

Indian Award shows are POLAR opposites of class, grace, and appeal. The setting anything but intimate with screaming, fans in the back. The venues are so tacky and way too much unneeded color. The BORING dance performances with no name actors, where the "stars" dont even seem interested. Award recipants get no respect unless your Amitabh Bachan (overreated)..The worst part are the hosts, crass, raunchy jokes are not funny anymore. Oh and whats the point of a red carpet if your going too run down it?

Anyways, i have nothing against the indain film industry, i just think these shows need to be graceful and stylish.. They are starting to make me sick. I only watch them for a select few actors. I really hope they learn so tips from hollywood..These shows are becoming outdated, and no fun.

I agree with every point of yours. Its been over 3 years since I last saw an Indian award function. The other day when I watched the Academy awards I loved every bit of it- The fact that Technical people were allowed to give an accaptance speech (which never happens in India), the way there were past-Oscar winners announcing and honouring each of the nominees- everything was done so beautifully, even people who didn't win must have felt so honoured.

But the point is most people in India love these kind of award functions- so you cant blame the organisers. People have a choice to turn-off their television if they dont like what they see and sadly most people seem to enjoy this.

But somewhere down the line people are going to get bored of all these over-the-top stuff and perhaps thats the reason why Filmfare asked relatively younger stars to host the show this year instead of the usual SRK.

Exactly, everybody gets the same amount of respect.

I wish more people in India would watch the oscars and see the world difference. Then they would realize their is a better way to have an award show.

^^^I have a feeling that I am going to be labelled an srk fan jumping to his defense--but all I am going to say is--if anyone would watch any interview of his or read any indian news website--srk said NO to filmfare because of a) his shoulder and saif did too because of both saying that b) people taking themselves too seriously--that is why rk-immie and kjo-farhan hosted....
just adding in what i've read.....

I completely agree with you. Sadly, it has gotten to a point, where no one even cares about who get the awards. There is no respect left in it. Years ago, in the 70's getting the Filmfare was a huge deal, people were known for it. Now it is just such a sham that no one gives a crap.

I am confused by your argument here. How can you watch movie award show and not be interested in the movies? Isn't that what the award show celebrating, the movies??? Most foreign award shows tend to be more entertaining than the indian awards, where all the guests are constantly yawning and definitely not paying attention to any of it.
