Why doesn't Aamir attend award functions?

Does anyone know why Aamir Khan doesn't attend award functions, especially the years he is nominated? I mean he did attend the oscars, but why not any of the Indian award functions? Does anyone know??

cause he is snob and thinks he is too good for award shows.... but i cnt stop loving is movies and acting.

From what i heard, he expected to win for Rangeela but he didn't won the award.

Because he once felt he deserved an award, and didn't get it. So he boycotted it all together...lol. Weird reason since everyone loses and wins, but meh.

he said it himself that it is because the awards are rigged and he does not believe in them. Only popular movies get awards unlike the oscars.

It was when Rangeela and DDLJ released the same year. Aamir thought he deserved the award for "Best Actor" but SRK won it! So he doesnt like em....I really dont know why he thnks Rangeela was better than DDLJ......cuz NO movie can beat DDLJ.

I am not agree as far acting ,Aamir far better in Rangella srk 's average performance in DDLJ but srk win just because of Yash Raj group.

he didnt believe in theses awards as he thought that not only some ppl wud judge n vote any stars' performances ...or maybe there is other reasons of which i am not aware...thnks
