Box Office Update
B.O. update:- 'R.N.B.D.J.' opens to a mixed response
- By Taran Adarsh, December 13, 2008 - 08:17 IST
RAB NE BANA DI JODI was expected to start with a bang, fetching one of the biggest starts of the year, but the film opened to a thoroughly mixed response. The film was good at plexes of Mumbai, Delhi, parts of U.P., Jaipur, Indore, Ahmedabad [in the range of 70%], but was best in parts of South India. However, the opening was 25% - 30% - 40% outside these centres and at places, even lower at single screens.

The reports are extremely mixed as well, what with the elder crowd patronising the film, but the young crowd as well as the masses hardly being gung-ho. The response on Saturday and Sunday is being watched keenly. Also, will it sustain from Monday onwards, is one question everyone's asking.

Well! SRK in ill-fitted clothes with a moustache singing on a cart in a patli gali is not exactly a crowd puller when dostana and bikinis are creating waves. There are people like me who are loyal SRK fans but the youth today like Johns and Neils😛.
Adi-SRK's next strategy should be bringing the girl out. Actually, they should have done that before. It is not the 80s and 90s. Visibility is important.

its not about bikinis or biceps....it all abt the script and screenplay dostana worked coz it had a good dose of humor and comedy more than exposure,
and yes i do agree ppl dont like shahrukh khan being old at 40 romancing a girl of 18 in a movie perhaps it could have been like OSO it have worked.
but apart from that there lies fault in the script......but still i will watch the movie tomoorow😉😆

Don't forget Deepika doing OSO promotion. It was a major attraction other than SRK. Deepika brought a major chunk of audience after her appearances on SRGMP and other reality shows.

People are too busy. You need to have a good cover to attract them and then it is word of mouth. Here all we are given is a very old and skinny SRK hopping on a cart haule haule.

As for script, I think it is refreshing. A very simple love story about an average looking family man where people aren't dressed like Christmas trees or sets painted imaginary Blue-Black or girls gyrating in chiffons. A leading man lot similar to Vinay Pathak's character from Aaja Nach Le. Is Pathak's character here an extension of that?

This along with haule haule is enough for me to go watch it.😊
I think this being the major film release after 26/11 also made an impact on the collections and as I said not a major attraction for youth. I am sure as days pass more people will catch it.
