Why Comedy genre numbered few?

There is a big question over comedy genres as they number few in the total release with in a year. It means, that real enjoyable well conceived- story based comedy after finding few good takers keeps people guessing for their favorite.

Kundan Shah, who directed Jane Bhi Do Yaaro which was released 25 years back now, is working a sequel with the same actors who appeared in the first one.

It proves that confidence of the director on the public still may relevancy of satire it generated a generation before.

Till very recently Munnabhai series and Hera-Pheri remained greener in the audience minds for their messages with comical sense that drawn all over the movie.

Similarly regional films too caught in the same situation where few films create ripples with laughter and satire.

The reasons may be plenty but few are may be rest with changing taste among public to view mega budget films with a charismatic star, glamouros heroines, actions, foreign locations etc.

Once such taste is established and proved that is the maximum a real 'creative' brain can do there is no end seen for a long time. Masala movies as they called are proving sometimes worth to view rather than a slumber 'serious' movie.

Most of the Indian woods try to imitate or catch up with their Hollywood mates and end up with mostly failures and few successes.

With this reality films like Munnabhai or JBDY are rare with success. Once we hugged Hollywood we have to follow their satirical tendencies too.

That is what Kamal Hassan has done with his comic features like Chachi 420.

Even though Kundan Shah prepares a script and not favorable with an independent but finding a one is easier because it is a proven subject.
