Kareena 'rocks' for free!

Ever since a popular entertainment website began streaming the tracks of the forthcoming 'Kya Love Story Hai', the number that caught everyone's attention (not surprisingly) was the Kareena Kapoor one rendered by Alisha Chinai - "It's Rocking Yaara Ishq To Karo".

Kareena's first sensational appearance after "Yeh Mera Dil" from 'Don' put to music by Pritam (of 'Gangster' and 'Woh Lamhe' fame) was shot over four days on an expensive set at Mumbai's Filmistan studio. The video is being edited at the moment and will be released on air before the end of this month.

According to sources, Kareena has not charged the producer for doing 'Kya Love Story Hai', releasing on April 20th worldwide. "Lovely (Singh), the director, has been an old friend and I couldn't say no to him," is all she said.

The film is being released and distributed internationally by Studio 18.

Kareena Kapoor talks about her bond with Shahid Kapur, Karan Johar and Bachchan Jr

Tranquil turn
Facing the camera after a year, she is shooting a promotional video for friend and director Lovely Singhs' film 'Kya Love Story Hai'. "My sister (Karisma Kapoor) admires my patience. For a year I didn't do any film. I waited for the right offers," says Kareena.

She adds, "But I've come out a winner. Even the small role in 'Don' has been appreciated. It's my individuality that has stood me. I cannot just look pretty."

Enjoying the studio grind she says, "Acting is a nasha. I'm reinventing myself constantly."

Bebo's boy-next-door
Quiz her one whether she would credit this unruffled Kareena to Shahid Kapur's presence in her life and she says, "He is the reason for my smiles and my laughter. He's the quintessential boy-next-door, my dream man." And what has Bebo added to Shahid's life? "Spice!" she shoots. "He's a thinker. I want to understand his silences. But he has opened up, thanks to me."

Friends forever
Ask her if she misses working with her debut co-star Abhishek Bachchan and Kareena confesses, "My fondness for Abhishek is genuine and goes beyond words. I've no hard feelings, irrespective of whether we do a film or not. At the end of it, it's only a film."
Asserting her abiding friendship with director Karan Johar, she shares, "I love Karan from the bottom of my heart. I guard his friendship like a child in a cradle. Our friendship goes beyond a film."

Marriage?
Kareena, who has films including Imtiaz Ali's starrer with Shahid Kapur, Mani Ratnam's 'Lajjo' with Aamir Khan and a Yash Raj production coming up, says that marriage will happen at the right time. "I believe in the beauty of a home, in being a wife and making my man proud," declares the avid advocate.

Kareena causes Junior Bachchan's exit


It looks like Karan Johar, the boy of Indian cinema, the man no one – not even a Shahrukh Khan or Amitabh Bachchan - can refuse, is experiencing his first bout of rejection from none other than the junior Bachchan. Abhishek was approached to star in buddy K- jo's next film, but refused outright. The reason: Kareena Kapoor.

Karan was keen to cast Abhishek and Kareena in his next film, considering they set the screen on fire in 'Refugee'. But a lot of water has passed under the bridge since then. Recall the fact that, before Aishwarya Rai came into Abhishek's life, Karisma Kapoor was all set to become the Bacchan bahu - and we all know how that ended!

However it seems sis Kareena is not content to let bygones be bygones and in classic Kareena style, made some rather unflattering comments about the Bachchan family. To top it off, Aby's Baby is not one to forgive and forget and has even suggested K- jo replace Kareena with Aishwarya, putting Karan in quite a quandary.

But when Entertainment NOW approached K- jo, he went down the standard Bollywood route of denial:

"With every day that passes I write one more line and one more scene of it. I hope it eventually fructifies into something special. But there is no truth to anything (else), I have not cast the film and I don't even know what I am making," said Johar.

Stuck between Kareena and Abhishek - not a bad situation to be in! But we doubt K- jo would agree at the moment.

The actress who's doing a special appearance for friend, Lovely Singh's Kya Love Story Hai, took time off to enjoy running through the pages of the launch issue of the Indian edition of one of her favourite magazines. As she peruses through Hello!, she can't resist complimenting the magazine for its style and chutzpah. "Hello! is one of my favourite magazines," she b e a m s. "Whenever I'm travelling, it's the first magazine I pick up at the airports. Though a star myself, I'm completely star struck with H o l ly wo o d actors. What I like about Hello! is that it takes you into the inner world of the celebrities without sensationalising anything. I'm so glad it's coming to India now. It'll be fun to read about the other side of Indian celebs. We hardly have a magazine that covers them."
Ask her the reason for the growing interest in Indian cinema, celebrities, royalty and businessmen, and she cites the recent Forbes list of billionaires which has 36 Indians featured in it, higher than even Japan, as evidence.
Kareena feels that royalty and the film stars are our A-list celebs. On her list of Indian celebs she would like to see on the pages of Hello!: The Gandhi family — Sonia, Rahul and Priyanka, the entire Kapoor clan and of course, Gauri and Shah Rukh Khan. "How about doing a cover with Leonardo Di Caprio and me?" she asks with a twinkle in her eye, adding that she'd love to see Leonardo and Penelope Cruz more often in the mag.
As she turns the pages, the world super exclusive of the wedding pictures of Elizabeth Hurley and Arun Nayar catch her attention. Going through the images, she states that the Liz-Arun wedding is her idea of a dream wedding. "It was very classy and tastefully done. That's the way marriages should be done," she smiles.
Come to the item song she's doing in Kya Love Story Hai, and she says she's doing it for her friend and director Lovely Singh. "We've been friends for long. So when he asked me to do this, I couldn't refuse. I haven't taken any money for this, it's something I'm doing for a friend. And I can feel it in my bones that it's going to be a chartbuster. So there!"
The shot is called. She takes one last look at the magazine before sauntering towards the camera. And we can't help but hum, Hello! is it me you're looking for…?

You were good friends with Kareena once. Now you two are no longer that close…

"Kareena and I were in the same school and we had common friends. We are in a similar age group and there was a phase when we got to know each other really well, hung around together a lot and did a lot of fun things. But then she got really busy, I got busy with my work, and we just parted ways but with absolutely no animosity. Today, when we meet we are completely fine with each other. That's because we know exactly where the other is coming from. So we share that comfort level. Even today, I respect her as an individual."

"It's among the best visuals I've seen of late. Bebo's outdone herself yet again and looks remarkable."

Tusshar is extremely excited about the overwhelming response to the film's soundtrack, and specifically, Kareena's video. "I'm not sure whether I should say this but it's even better than some of the funky Britney Spears videos I've seen in recent times."

Kya Love Story Hai releases worldwide on April 20. It is being released internationally by Studio 18.
