There are places in the world where you will get punched in the face for saying something remotely offensive which may be humorous to you in your part of the world -- here she is making a remark on a man and his man hood that is universally offensive to all men -- it is akin to a man calling some woman infertile and from a gori to a kali to a cheeni to a arab to a desi no woman is going to take it lightly.
But Im still not convinced that she did not know what she meant because we have people like Ellie who is not even from a English speaking nation but actually from Sweden YET she is able to speak, learn, and adapt to Hindi language. Sophia is no special snow flake she is born in a desi family; her entire family looks just like you and me except her who is now full of botox but you get my point.
You're spot on.
She knows enough Hindi to know that "aap mard nahi ho" translates to "you're not a man".
Something she repeated several times, even after Ajaz's apology that it was a slip of the tongue. At least he never repeated the comment he made.
Feigning innocence just makes her look even more stupid.
You CANNOT yell on national TV (several times especially) that someone is not a man and not expect a reaction. We all know that we should turn the other cheek, but we also know there are limits and I would never dare make this comment (even in a heated argument) without expecting an equally demeaning comment if not worse.
Whilst Ajaz's comment was wrong, he was instigated and at least he apologised.
