I think there is nothing wrong with being village like. Village people despite their orthodoxy have many good points too. It is these posers who are ashamed of their true roots and try to be something they are not that are the worst. Juhi always talked about class and associated with "high class" people like Pooja Bedi but then she never really came across like that herself. Just be yourself, what is the problem. Atleast that is one thing I like about sangram singh.

I am definitely not demeaning people from village...i m just trying to say that a section of india society, which mostly resides in villages, is highly orthodox about caste and subcaste. Of course u find such people in cities too, but there concentration is mostly in villages and towns...shilpa and juhi have left their villages but continue to have the same mindset their great grandfathers used to have.

Saklanis are from gharwal region of Uttarakhand. but you are right that most surnames ending with 'ani' are sindhis...however, saklanis are not Sindhis.

Don't think it is an issue. For most people, their subconscious first choice is usually someone from their own community with similar socio-cultural background. However, I can see the statement being off-putting to be aired on TV
