I absolutely disagree with Salman on that.
You don't have to desperate as a sportsperson.You need to have the urge to win but that doesn't necessarily mean you become desperate and do anything to win.
If that was the case cricket or other sports would never have been a gentleman's game.
You need to have a balance;spirit of playing and urge to win.
If it was all about being desperate to win we would have never seen many iconic images and moments in cricket;just to name a few:
-Dhoni would have never helped Du Plesis with crams when DP was literally killing Indian bowlers.
-Dhoni would have never called Ian Bell back despite Bell being given out by umpires.
-Brendon Mccullum would have never congratulated Clarke and Australian team despite being abused throughout.
There have been countless other instances where spirit won over desperation.
Salman and the questioner were wrong.
They completely effed what sports is about.
