Chapter 27
Bijolia was being decked up like a bride for the upcoming nuptials of its Rajkumari with Kunwar Pratap. The palace was already decorated with the kitchen bustling with activity as feasts were being prepared for the guests who were going to grace the auspicious event. HansaBai was busy trying to see the arrangements for the event from clothes to jewellery there was a lot of work to do while Rao Mamrakh was checking up on security as he knew there might be attacks or attempts to stop the wedding. Both of them knew that the wedding was being rushed but they had no option since Surtan Singh's death news spread over the Rajputana everyone (all the bad guys) got worried about Sakha Veer but Uday Singh knew that DheerBai would use this opportunity to try and hurt Ajabde so he pleaded with his friend to go ahead with his daughter's wedding to his son Pratap. Rao Mamrakh heeded the advice but before he could say something Jaiwanta Baiji herself asked for Ajabde's hand in marriage for Pratap and so began the preparations for the event
Kunwar Pratap loved his brothers and friends dearly but at the moment they were all asking for a good beating. They had been nagging him since morning about his wedding and were not allowing him to work on political matters that needed attention
Shakti: Dada Bhai you need to take a break from all of this
Chakri: he is right Baujiraj
Som: after all you are
Maan: getting married
Veeni: To the girl you love
Pratap stares at them all impassively when Vikram rushes in and collides with his brother
Vikram: Dada Bhai someone left a message for you
He hands him a letter and then rushes back out
Shakti: Vikram bhai why are you in a hurry?
Vikram: Because I need to find the perfect present for Bhabisa
Chakri, Som, Veeni and Maan: Present for Bhabisa?
Vikram: Yes as she is going to come to our home leaving her family behind so I need to have a perfect present for her so that she does not leave us
Pratap smiles: she won't leave Vikram
Shakti and the others smile smugly and give narrowed eye looks to Pratap who ignores them but Vikram continues
Vikram: Dada Bhai you are always busy I mean right now you need to be taking some time off getting ready for your wedding but here you are working and if this continues then Bhabisa will feel lonely and will want to go back to her home where she was surrounded by her family members so I need to find the perfect gift for her
Shakti: Wait for me I'm coming as well. Maybe I'll get the perfect gift and then she can make my favourite sweets for me
We'll also come - Som, Veeni and Maan leave Pratap and Chakri behind
Pratap: You are not going Chakrapani
Chakri: Pandit Chakrapani Mishra made your kundlis' match Baujiraj. I know that you two are destined for each other and even in face of adversities you two will manage to find a way to be together. Now where is that letter from?
Pratap: It was from Ranaji. He sends his blessings and congratulations on my upcoming nuptials Chakrapani
Chakri: Won't you respond to it?
Pratap: Not right now as I need to go and meet my mothers after all they would need assistance for all the preparations. Come let's go
Chapter 28
Ajabde was a nervous wreck sitting amidst all the clothes, jewellery and presents that kept pouring in for the wedding. Subhagyawati came bearing more stuff only to find Ajabde sitting like a statue staring at the spread on her bed
Subho: Ajabde are you okay?
No response
Subho: Baisa do you need something?
No response
Subho: Kunwar Pratap is here!!!
No response
Subho was dumbfounded as her friend was literally not responding so she did one little thing - she slightly slapped her on the cheek but Ajabde was so lost that it took Subho a little more effort to bring her out
Subho: Lakshmi ran away with Raja the bull Ajabde!!!!
Ajabde: What????
Finally the Rajkumari came back to her senses making Subho fall down on the bed laughing hard
Ajabde: Subhagyawati we need to go and stop Lakshmi
Subho: Lakshmi is fine and is resting after being fed Rajkumarisa
Ajabde stared at her and then she realised: Subhagyawati you scared me you know
Subho: Well you were not responding so I had to do something I mean you did not even flinch at would be husband's name Ajabde
Ajabde exhaled and sat down again a frown marring her beautiful face
Subho: what is troubling you Ajabde?
Ajabde: Everything is happening so fast I mean I knew we would get married but I thought I had some time but here we are with the wedding right at the corner and...
Subho: and?
Ajabde: I'm scared Subhagyawati. What if I fail at being a good wife or a daughter-in-law? He will clearly leave me for sure. I'll be left on the altar itself decked up as a bride and then what will I do? I would have to marry someone really old then and...
Subho: Whoa stop right there Ajabde nothing like this would happen because Kunwar Pratap loves you more than anything in this world. He wants to be with you for the rest of his life. I agree that the wedding is happening at a fast pace but that is partly because of the political tensions surrounding the Rajputana and all the elders agree that your wedding is a perfect way of bringing some joy in the community. As far as you were being left behind at the altar well do you think your brothers would let that happen?
Ajabde smiled but there was a tiny speck of fear in her which Subho recognised
Subho: He loves you Ajabde and you will be a very happy bride.
Ajabde: What if I fail?
Subho: You won't and even if you do then both of you can work on it together
Ajabde: How did you know that Chakrapani was the one for you Subhagyawati?
Subho thought of her betrothed: Well to be honest our parents arranged for the marriage but then I met him and slowly came to know him. We disagree a lot but he respects my view and I respect his besides you and Kunwar Pratap are our friends that make it easier and simple I guess. He makes me smile and that is all I want- someone who can keep me happy
Ajabde: You both make a really nice pair you know
Subho: Enough about me- we'll do that at my wedding but right now it's all about you
A servant enters with a message which Ajabde takes and keeps it aside
Subho: You should see that it could be important
Ajabde reluctantly picks it up to read it but a scream tears out of her and she faints scaring Subhagyawati who calls for help
