Chapter 18

Rana Uday Singh and Rawatji welcomed Rao Mamrakh who had arrived with enough soldiers to tackle with Surtan Singh's plan. They believed that Surtan would create some sort of chaos on the day of the puja so they needed to be ready to safely evacuate the royal ladies and princesses while dealing with the fallout between Surtan and the rebels. The army would be spread out over the temple area so that as soon as there is any problem then the ladies can be safely rescued while Uday Singh along with Rawatji and Rao Mamrakh ji would go towards Surtan Singh's palace to keep an eye out for troubles brewing there

All the sides were ready for their own plans while the lives of royal families were hanging in the middle of the civil war. Ajabde had been fasting the entire day as per Panditji's instructions now the time had come to break the fast well she did not want to because Panditji had told her that if she broke the fast by having the first bite from the hands of her beloved then there bond will only strengthen so she decided to wait and not break her fast. She knew that Kunwar Pratap might not be able to make it as he was busy with the things in Bundi and the next day being the day of the puja meant something was bound to happen when the campsite saw the arrival of Kunwar Jagmal - he had decided to stay the night at the campsite along with his mother under the guise of joining them for the puja

As soon as he entered his eyes searched for Ajabde but before he could lay eyes on her she was surrounded by her brothers as well as two special guests - Kunwar Vikram and Kunwar Shakti made their presence known to everyone and behind them their mother along with HB and JB also came and stood together. Jagmal hid his disappointment in not being able to rove at Ajabde as he would like to instead he greeted them and made his way to his tent while Vikram and Shakti greeted Ajabde warmly and went to be with their mother. Ajabde went back to her room and made preparation for the night - she did her nightly routine with Subho's assistance and got ready to sleep. She had just closed her eyes when she felt like someone was watching her so she covered her body more with the blanket but the feeling did not go away making her stress out so much so that when a hand touched hers she shot right up sweating bullets

Pratap had never seen Ajabde this scared - she was one of the strongest girls he knew who could bear pain like no one but seeing her all sweaty and shaky made him realise that there was something troubling her deeply

Pratap: Ajabde?

Ajabde: Was it you before?

Pratap: Before?

Ajabde: I felt like someone was watching me like staring at me

Pratap: Wait here I'll check

Ajabde: I'll come with you. Please don't leave me alone

So both of them went together through the back entrance and patrolled the nearby area when Ajabde saw them - footprints on the ground near a tree by her tent - whoever was watching her had been there. As she stood underneath the tree something fell on her cheek - she touched it with her fingers and looked at it - she kept staring at her fingers without moving an inch. Pratap came and he touched her shoulder to get her attention and when she looked at him he slowly wiped the stain on her cheek while making her move with him behind them Shakti had also come in and he climbed up the tree where they discovered a body of a dead soldier who had been brutally stabbed to death

Pratap signalled his brother to check for any clue when Ajabde spoke up seeing an ear-ring stuck in the man's dress: That belongs to Kunwar Jagmal

Shakti: she is right Dada Bhai. These ear-rings were taken away by him from Vikram when he got them as a present. This means

Ajabde: He was watching me sleep. She fisted her hands tightly as if trying to erase that feeling of being watched. Pratap moved her away from the scene and took her to the river side where he engulfed her in his embrace and kissed her making her forget all his worries while she accepted his love and protection. They sat there in each other's arm when Ajabde told him about the small excursion she would be taking with the other princesses to the holy tree in the morning.

Pratap: Shakti and Balwant will be there in hiding along with a few rebels who will drop in to help in case of any emergency which seeing Jagmal will definitely happen. Tomorrow is a big day and I want you to stay with RaniMa Ajabde for safety reasons - after your trip at the tree is finished go join RaniMa -she has already informed Hansa Mosiji about the conditions

Ajabde: What conditions Kunwar Pratap? I thought everything was just between Surtan Singh and the rebels but now that Sakha Veer is here then everything would be alright

Pratap: Ranaji is here as well Ajabde with an army so we do not know what will happen tomorrow but I do know that Surtan Singh will die before the sunsets

She just snuggled in his embrace when she had a hiccup making Pratap look at her

Pratap: I wonder who is thinking about you at this hour of the night

Ajabde: Must be one of my many admirers whom you scared away- hiccup

Pratap smiled and brought her water which he made her drink thus effectively successfully breaking her fast which she had forgotten all about

Chapter 19

Jagmal could not believe his luck first his step brothers had come out standing guard with Ajabde and then the soldier had the audacity to challenge him for a fight - he stopped him from watching Ajabde sleep and so he had met his end brutally. Jagmal smiled remembering the manner in which he stabbed the soldier thinking of him being Pratap the biggest obstacle in his life but then he slowly came to his senses as heard voices of other soldiers coming so he tied the body of the soldier on top of the tree before going back to his own tent

The day of the puja dawned early for Ajabde who was already up and dressed for the trip to the Holy tree - wearing a lehenga that was gifted to her by Sajja Baiji Ajabde looked beautiful in it. She made her preparations with Subhagyawati and together they went to greet the elders as they would join the other princesses in the trip.

Shakti and Balwant had already taken their places near the area with a bunch of rebel soldiers while Khetu and Patta were at the campsite keeping an eye out for trouble. GR along with Sakha Veer were heading off to the palace hoping to catch Surtan Singh on the same hand Uday Singh also rode towards the palace to try and control the massacre that Surtan Singh had planned. Rawatji and Rao Mamrakh ji were spread in the forest near the puja area where Surtan Singh's army was also stationed - Rawatji and Rao Mamrakh were about to step into a death trap meant for the rebels when one of their soldier alerted them but the poor man got hit by a shower of arrows that pierced his body - everyone became alert and studied the surroundings

Rawatji: RM we are trapped from the looks of it

RM: Seems like a call for war to me Rawatji. Are you ready?

Rawatji: Let's teach these boys how it is actually done

They plan their next moves and begin taking down Surtan Sing's army men - first to go down were the men on trees which brought out the men on the ground leading to a full blown battle between the two forces

Surtan Singh had left his palace for the temple as he wanted to carry out a section of his plan himself which was his escape - if the rebels won against his men then he needed to escape before they caught him and punished him for what he had done also he needed to keep an eye on Jagmal as he knew the young prince was mentally unstable and the news of him brutally killing one of the soldiers had already scared him on what the prince could do to get the thing he wanted the most - Ajabde

On GR's order Pratap had left them and proceeded towards the temple again as Bade Daata (GR) felt that Surtan Singh would plan his escape from that area and he was known for running away as well before fight began so Pratap went to make sure this time Surtan Singh only met Sakha Veer at every step instead of fleeing Surtan Singh would be forced to fight
