Chapter 30
Whoever said death was peaceful had clearly not faced death an annoyed Kunwar Shakti thought but was he dead or was he swinging between life and death seemed to be the question. He was able recognise voices around him (his father was shouting, his brother was equally loud) he could feel his mother's touch and wait who the hell was dropping water on his face?
Kunwar Shakti don't you dare die on me. Do you understand I'm ordering you to fight Rana Uday Singh screamed at his son and then looked at Pratap and said Kunwar Pratap your brother has a tendency of not listening to me so tell him that he needs to fight this, tell him!!!
Pratap swallowed his tears and said, he will Daajiraj, Bhai Shakti will overcome this you know he is stubborn. Besides Rani Ma and Maajli Ma both of them are here now and he never ever disobeys their orders. Right Rani Ma tell him to open his eyes this instant...tell him Rani Ma.
Maharani Jaiwanta Baiji took in her son and husband both of them had Shakti's blood smeared on their clothes and faces. She said Kunwar Pratap I need you to go and assist Ajabde in bringing those medicinal pastes and drinks here for Kunwar Shakti, you will find her in the kitchen preparing them, Ranaji I need you to go and arrange for Saka's funeral Rana Uday Singh looked at his wife and was about to say something highly inappropriate for the man who hurt his son when Rawatji interfered and said that the body has been moved and the preparation for the funeral has begun if Ranaji would come with me so that Vaidji could treat Kunwar Shakti...
Uday Singh realised that he was useless standing there looking at the pale and cold body of his son. He went up to Shakti whose mother was holding his hand and rubbing them while whispering to him, he took his free hand and said, you will survive this because you are Rana Sangram Singh's grandson and my son and we are fighters and survivors with that he went out of the room. As he was leaving he saw both Pratap and Ajabde carrying a lot of medicines and drinks for Kunwar Shakti. Ajabde had garnered a lot of knowledge about medicines while living as the adopted daughter of a village healer and thus today all her knowledge was being utilised to the hilt. When she saw Shakti lay lifeless on the ground she promptly took action by making sure that Vaidji was present at the room where he was being brought in, all the ladies had gone and gathered all the medicinal stuff she required, Patta and Balwant along with Chakrapani, Veeni, Maan and Som brought her stuff and she took some of her personal herbs and prepared the paste, when Vaidji saw it he said that it was perfect and requested Sajja Bai ji to keep changing Kunwar Shakti's bandages after every 3-4 hours. The first 24 hrs were highly crucial and everyone was highly vigilant.
The fight between Rao Maldev and Kunwar Pratap was called off not only because of Shakti's condition but mainly because of the fact that Maldev was missing and so were Uma Devi and DheerBai. Kunwar Jagmal was found playing at a servant's quarters and was being taken care by the daasis in the palace. An old man who was a vendor of pots by profession had seen Maldev and the two queens disguised as commoners and leaving the palace when the fight between Shakti and Saka had finished. Rana Uday Singh sent out spies and troops to find the three absconding people and bring them back to Chittor. He had a bad feeling about it and also told his eldest son and the other members about it. Everyone agreed that Maldev would not rest till he had his revenge which meant that Ajabde was still in danger. Balwant Patta, Pratap and his friends all decided to keep guard while paying extra attention to Ajabde's whereabouts - she was not to be left alone at any time. The council also decided a course of action against Rao Maldev and his wife but no one said a word about DheerBai as they felt that the family should be the one to decide her punishment. They all received an update on Kunwar Shakti's health which was improving by the hour- it seemed that Ajabde's medicinal paste and herbs worked wonderfully and now the prince was resting peacefully. He would require a lot of rest to fully recover from the wounds and he would be absolutely fine only the scars would remain. Pratap said and he will brag about those scars for years to come.
Chapter 31
Ajabde had gone back to her room to freshen up before she went to the kitchen to offer her assistance when she felt like she was being watched. She turned around to see no one in the room but that feeling didn't go away rather it increased by the minute. Slowly she started moving towards the door when suddenly a hand came fro behind covering her mouth with a cloth, she struggled against it but the person holding her was strong and the cloth was drenched with the sleeping potion so in a few minutes Ajabde lost all her senses and faded into the darkness. Just then a maid entered her room and saw a man carrying the young princess out of the balcony and she screamed Help! Help! He is kidnapping the princess...but before help could come the man had jumped of the balcony where a horse awaited him and rode out of the palace
The commotion of the maids scream brought in everyone to the room Pratap could not believe that under his protection someone had managed to get their hands on his Ajab but he would not rest till he got her back. Pratap was followed by Patta and Balwant who wanted to come with him but he promised them that they were needed at the palace more as Veer Baiji and the others needed protection while they figure out who helped Ajabde get kidnapped. Reluctantly they agreed, Pratap took hold of his friend Chetak his partner in everything and ran to rescue his love.
Ajabde felt like someone had hit her head with a heavy weapon as it was hurting pretty bad, she tried opening her eyes and moving her limbs only to realise that she had been tied up. Where the hell was she? Suddenly a few voices were heard and she pretended to be asleep when they came near her,
Are you out of your mind Dheer? You kidnapped this girl after all that has happened, you do realise that the entire blame will fall on us now Uma Devi roared in anger. Dheer Bai looked at her sister and said, No they won't as we did not kidnap her Rao Maldev did to exact his revenge from her. The blame will fall on him we were quite helpless as he is your husband and you are my sister. Besides don't you want to punish both of them - this girl as well as that womaniser who hurt you again and again by marrying all those women after you?
Uma Devi looked at her sister and realised what a snake she was - she was about to put the entire blame on her husband for crimes he never committed. The kidnapping was her idea, the event that took place though partly her husband's fault was her sister's idea to begin with as she did not want Jaiwanta Bai to arrange a marriage for her son and that girl. Her sister was insane and it was too late for this realisation but she would not let her harm her husband at any costs for the crimes she committed.
No! He would not be blamed as I intend on telling everyone the truth about you Dheer. Enough with your plans and schemes all they have managed to do is cause us harm, have you any idea what the entire Rajputana thinks about us? No all you can think off his getting a throne for your son who has been destined to be a thief...
DheerBai had enough of her sister's antics and was about to tell her to shut up but her words about Kunwar Jagmal enraged her and in her anger she took the sword that was given to them as a protection weapon by Maldev and stabbed her sister again and again. Her real colours came in the fore front as Dheer Bai's face was covered in her sister's blood whose last reaction was shock. Dheer kept on stabbing her and finally threw the sword when she realised what she had done. She looked around to notice that Ajabde was awake and had witnessed everything, she was the sole victim but now she had her scapegoat.
Ajabde looked at the deranged queen and knew that she would have to use all her wits to get away from her. DheerBai dragged her up and held the sword by her neck and said, you will help me in getting this body by the cliff, don't try anything funny or else I will kill you. Everything that has happened is your fault - you were supposed to be dead but no you had to come back and destroy everything I worked for - everything is gone and even my Jija is dead because of you
Ajabde retorted harshly You Killed your own sister Dheer Baiji not me, it was your actions you held the sword just like you are holding now. If you want to kill me go ahead but both of us know that the only way you will survive and be with your son is if I'm alive and unharmed because one scratch on me and Kunwar Pratap is going to kill anyone and everyone who had their hands on me.
DB: Kunwar Pratap is my son!! He is my son you understand he will never go against my wishes...
Ajabde: No he is not your son he knows the truth about what happened you see Rao Maldev is a far bigger manipulator than you. He left a message confessing all his crimes and your role in it, he knows what sort of woman you are and your desires of snatching the throne from him and being the Maharani of Mewar... the sad thing is that Kunwar Jagmal does not realise his mother's true nature but good thing is that he is no longer with you and after this he won't be allowed to be with you ever.
Dheer Bai couldn't stand the commoner's daughter manner of speaking and her retort so she angrily hit her on the head making her fall down alongside her sister's dead body.
Dheer knew she was in a lot of trouble but she also knew that till she had Ajabde she had a bargaining chip and bargain she would for that girl did hold Kunwar Pratap in her hands.
