AN- I know I have made you all wait a long time. Sorry for that cuz with recent facts I had to go over the whole plot of mine and cover some plot holes. Anyway here's the teaser for the next chapter. Will update tomorrow.
TEASER(Ch- 17)
Rao Shiladitya Raisen was furious.
"What do you mean foiled?" he roared at the cowering man in front of him. "Dheer had told me you are capable, Dharam Singh but now I understand that she had been mistaken. Such an important assignment I gave you. And after three complete days, goddamn 72 hours you tell me the whole operation went wrong. You foolish lout."
Dharam Singh trembled with fear. Sweat beads littered his forehead. His heart racing against time, stuttering words fell out of his mouth.
"M-Mercy Raoji. Mercy" he begged as he fell to his knees.
Shiladitya sneered at the snivelling man.
"How did it fail?" he asked his voice cold with fury.
"A-A man. It all h-happ-happened b-because of t-that man."
"Which man?"
"N-No one k-knew him Raoji. One minute he w-was t-there and n-next h-he wasn't. But w-we know his name Raoji" Dharam Singh spilled out trying to quench his lord's anger with that tiny bit of good news.
Rao Shiladitya frowned. "What are you waiting for? Some auspicious timing? Tell me what is his name?"
"Raoji" Dharam Singh eagerly began, "that man who single-handedly destroyed our whole operation goes by the name..."
"Go on" Shiladitya bit out.
"Patta."
Patta smiled at the woman in front of him.
"Its done. Just as you wished."
The woman arched an eyebrow.
"You mistakenly 'dropped' your name as bait" she queried her voice smooth and velvety.
Patta smirked.
"Bait laid and till now, I can bet, it is hooked too. They will not know what hit them. We'll destroy them, Jija, finish them."
The woman gave an unreadable look.
"Don't be overconfident Patta."
"I am not" Patta countered, "and I know that our plan will succeed. After all it is made by you Jija and in all the years I've known you, I have learnt one thing- Baijilal never loses."

CHAPTER 17
December 21, 1987; 11:30pm; Punwar Mansion
The man paced outside the birthing chambers with a restless gait. Sweat beads etched across his forehead, his hands clammy with fear and apprehension.
It had been eight hours now.
"Calm down Raoji" his companion voiced to the anxious man with concern.
Rao Mamrakh Punwar heeded none. He continued his pacing each passing second weighing on him like a huge boulder of rocks placed onto his back.
Rao AkheSingh Songara sighed with utter weariness. He reached out to the tensed man and pulled him forcefully towards the chairs.
"Sit down Mamrakhji" he said pushing the man into the chairs, "the birth will happen according to the time God has decreed. Your pacing is not going to fast-forward it."
Rao Mamrakh raised bloodshot eyes to his long-time friend.
"Then what should I do" he snapped. "I told Hansa to not proceed with the pregnancy. The doctor had told us about the complications. And then we find out it is not one but two babies. Twins."
He took in a shuddering breath. "If something happens to her..."
A scream of utter pain broke through the air.
Rao Mamrakh paled jumping to his feet and next second the doors opened.
"What h-happened? Is Hansa all right? The babies?"
The nurse stared at the worried to-be-father for a moment.
"There are too many complications for a normal birth. We are doing C-Section. Please keep patience."
December 21, 1987; 11:48pm; Suryavanshi Havelli
The small boy sat on the window sill staring at the moon.
His dark eyes glittered in a vibrant manner and a small smile lit across his face. The cold wind ran over him, goosebumps rising on his thin arms.
Hurried footsteps reached his ears.
"Pratap, oh Lord Eklingji what are you doing?" PaatRani Karnavati exclaimed as she took in the sight of her five year old grandson sit at the window sill of the third floor.
Shaking her head at his antics the woman rushed across the room and lifted the boy off the sill and carried him onto the bed.
"What were you doing there Pratap? Didn't I tell you to sleep?" she asked sternly.
Pratap looked at his grandmother with wide eyes.
"Sowwy!"
Karnavati couldn't stop a smile from breaking out. Honestly no one could remain angry at him for a long time. With his dark hair, and pale countenance he looked like some kind of Gandharva.
And the moment one looked at those dark hypnotising orbs, all was forgotten. Everybody was a sucker for those puppy eyed looks he sported and the naughty boy knew quite well how to exploit it too.
"So little Prince why haven't you slept till now?"
Pratap cocked his head and uttered one word.
"Ranimaa."
Karnavati sighed.
"Pratap beta don't be difficult. Your Ranimaa has gone to your Hansa mausi. Remember she told you. Your Hansa mausi is going to bring two little babies. You can play with them many, many games. Your new brothers or sisters."
Pratap frowned. "No."
"No" Karnavati was confused.
"Not brother, sister. I have Shakti, Vikram and Jgmaal."
Karnavati snorted. "All right fine you moody Prince. A new baby boy to play games with. New playmate. Happy."
Pratap shook his head. "No playmate. I have Som."
Karnavati rolled her eyes heavenward. Thank God Udai wasn't as stubborn as his son. Apparently her grandson had inherited all her husband's mannerisms.
"Then what do want?" she asked tiredly. "A baby girl?"
Pratap furrowed his brows in apparent concentration. A sudden thought seemed to strike him as next second he grinned.
"Yes baby girl" he nodded.
Karnavati copied his grin. "Really now Pratap," she teased, "why do you want your mausi to have a baby girl?"
Pratap huffed at his grandmother's obtuseness.
"Because she is mine."
Karnavati fell a sudden chill at those words. As if those mere letters woven by a child were the call of future. A prophecy. She stared at his dark eyes. So dark, yet full of light. Brimming with love, belief and a core of steel.
She gave a shaky smile and her eyes fell on the open windows. Hurriedly she got up to close them.
"You know Pratap" she fought to keep her voice steady, "your Hansa mausi might bring two baby boys too."
She shut the windows and latched them when a soft voice answered, "She won't."
Karnavati whirled around to stare at the child sitting on the bed.
The five year old Suryavanshi Kunwar gave a tiny smile. "Baby girl. Mine."
His dark eyes shined in an avid array and in the next blink, they were normal again.
Karnavati tried to convince herself that those vibrant eyes were just the reflection of light.

The surgeon knit his brows in concentration.
This was one of the most complex pregnancy cases in his whole work-experience.
The woman suffered from a case of severe anaemia. Add to that her being an RH-ve complicated the whole case.
Falling from the stairs had twisted the whole matter altogether.
Jaivantabai Songara stared at her friend with trepidation. She had completely succumbed to unconsciousness by now and yet even sleep could not wipe away the expression of pain from her face.
She was once again very thankful that she had got a nursing degree or else she could not have been here to support her friend. Not that she helped in the surgery but at least as a moral support, her licence allowed her to stay.
It was then when an exclamation broke through her thoughts.
Her eyes travelled to the surgeon and his bloodied hands and finally to the nurse by his side.
She held a small baby, much smaller than it should have been, blood covering its every edge and it was...
"Why is it not crying?" Jaivanta shouted out panic suffusing her nerves as she felt fissures of dread break into her.
Two of the nurses held the baby as they wiped it and went through their procedures.
Jaivanta raced towards them.
"What happened?" she asked in a furious whisper.
The nurse to her right turned towards her a soft sympathetic look in her face.
"I am sorry Maharanisa. The boy is a stillborn."
Sometimes we face such incidents in life when it feels as if our very existence is shaken from the roots. Jaivanta felt that and finally understood what it meant.
She wanted to cry but couldn't.
She wanted to shout, to deny but couldn't.
Stumbling back in shock she stared at her unconscious friend and the fate that awaited her.

Pratap lifted his head from his grandmother's lap and looked at her.
Karnavati stopped her lullaby at once.
"What happened Kunwar Pratap?" she asked.
Pratap Singh Suryavanshi smiled.
Her whole lifetime Karnavati tried to convince herself that she didn't view an old soul behind those glittering young eyes and that her young grandson's prediction about a girl Punwar was just a co-incidence. Nothing else.
December 21, 1987; 11:59pm; Punwar Mansion
The shrill cries of a baby broke the haze of grief she found herself in.
Her desperate eyes sought the crying baby being passed to the nurses as they cleaned it up. A tiny breeze of relief took root in the dark situation.
Jaivanta stood still and silent, breathing deeply.
Few minutes later the nurse came up and next second she felt the baby in her arms. Her eyes dragged down to the red scrunched face.
The tiny watery orbs stared at her.
That very moment she felt her fears and troubles melt away.
October 22, 2014
Dhaman Singh felt as if his heart sat right in his mouth, for it felt that it would jump right out.
Wiping his upper lip, he took slow steps ahead.
A few yards away stood a group of men, all built up and tall wearing a criss-cross tattoo in their right wrist.
Afghans.
Working for Shams Khan's son Baadshah Khan.
Focusing all his courage he walked upto them.
"The goods have been checked by your experts and then placed in your cargos" he said to the leader with a mutilated face.
The leader nodded and gestured towards the large trunks by his side.
Dhaman Singh followed him and crouched near one trunk. Unbolting the latch he opened it and felt his heart squeeze tightly.
Inside gleamed gold bars. Heaps upon heaps.
He got up, his throat dry.
"Taken."
The Afghans nodded and without wasting time marched to their ships.
Dhaman Singh turned to his men.
"Oy listen up all of you. Carefully place the trunks in the van. Quick."
The men lined up heaving the trunks in twos.
Dhaman Singh congratulated on his successful venture when he felt someone slide upto him.
A man of dark complexion looked at him a dopy smile on his face.
"What?" Dhaman Singh barked out.
"Sir Ji" the man exclaimed an excitedly hugged him, "you are so brave Sir Ji. How you faced them so cool and composed? I am your fan Sir Ji."
Dhaman Singh felt his pride rise up a notch and pompously smiled at the jovial man.
"I know. Of course I am brave. That's why Raoji selected me."
The man nodded. "This Raoji is very lucky to have a man like you. So determined to have worked for three days continuously. I applaud you sir."
Dhaman Singh concurred. "Absolutely Rao Shiladitya is very lucky."
The man smiled. "Please Sir Ji make me your apprentice. Please. I promise I will never let wrong people get what they want."
Dhaman Singh felt a bit uneasy. "What did you mean by that?"
The man grinned, "Arrey Sir Ji I meant your enemies."
"Ah of course" Dhaman Singh realised his doubts clearing away at the adoring look directed towards him by his fan.
Well, he thought, an apprentice doesn't sound bad.
"Fine" he agreed "you are my apprentice from today."
The younger man gave a joyous bow.
Dhaman Singh nodded imperiously.
"Remember it is a high honour. Right what's your name?"
The man dipped his head. "Patta Sir Ji."
"Ok then Patta, go now."
The man called Patta frowned. "But Sir Ji what about the second phase of the operation."
Dhaman Singh was immediately on guard.
"No, no" Patta back-tracked, "I didn't mean it that way. What I meant was you should share some part with me as now I am your apprentice. Or else those who want your position will exploit it and call you a bad mentor. Think Sir Ji."
Dhaman Singh fell into deep thoughts. The poor soul was right.
"Fine than. Here's the plan. Listen up."
Minutes later Dhaman Singh left the corner, finished laying out the plan. He whistled loudly as he went towards the dock office.
He didn't notice his new apprentice's giddy smile suddenly turn shark-like.
A FEW HOURS LATER
Rao Shiladitya Raisen was furious.
"What do you mean foiled?" he roared at the cowering man in front of him. "Dheer had told me you are capable, Dhaman Singh but now I understand that she had been mistaken. W-We know his name Raoji." Dharam Singh spilled out trying to quench his lord's anger with that tiny bit of good news.
Rao Shiladitya frowned. "What are you waiting for? Some auspicious timing? Tell me what is his name?"
"Raoji" Dharam Singh eagerly began, "that man who single-handedly destroyed our whole operation goes by the name..."
