Bhabhi's role was better than Dill Mill Gayye
She's known to be choosy, so we were taken aback when Gurdeep Kohli entered Bhabhi, the long-running afternoon soap on Star Plus. After Nach Baliye 2 and Sindoor, one expected to see the pretty actress in a lead role of a new serial. "True, and I was waiting for something different to come my way but unfortunately nothing new was offered because audiences are glued to a certain type of programming," laments Gurdeep who took up Bhabhi "because the production house met all my terms and conditions." Also, Bhabhi holds a bit of nostalgia for the actress who had made a guest appearance in the soap when she was doing Sanjivani "I have also been promised that once I enter the soap, the focus will shift to my character Gitanjali which will be significant," she points out. With Rucha Gujarati who plays the central role of Bhabhi opting out of the show, it is likely that Gurdeep's role will take centrestage. "I shot with her for two days and I have no clue why she's quit," muses Gurdeep when quizzed about Rucha's exit. Why isn't she a part of Sanjivani's sequel Dill Mill Gaye? "Whatever role I do should have something substantial in it and the role that was offered to me in Dill.. had nothing to offer. They had introduced a lot of new characters that they wanted to focus upon. This would have hampered my image as an actor," justifies Gurdeep. Maybe we will see Dr Juhi in a cameo sometime later in the show.

"My Bhabhi act has increased TRPs"

he was out of a serial when it was at its peak of popularity and she was playing the main lead. That's old news. But what surprised everyone was Kanchi Kaul choosing to be a part of a long-running serial Bhabhi and that too as a replacement artiste. "I thought it was challenging to step into the shoes of a well-established character and yet connect with the viewers. I think I have succeeded because the TRPs are on the rise," says Kanchi cheerfully. In the forthcoming episodes, Kanchi's track will have lot of twists and turns. "The character has a lot of emotion and entertainment, which I enjoy doing," she states. Any regrets on what happened to Ek Ladki Anjani Si? "I am happy I left the show at a high point but regret the way they tried to malign me," says the actress who claims to have got plenty of offers but "none with a strong role like Bhabhi's".

Kanchi, Vishal an item?

Kanchi Kaul remained out of sight for eight months after she was replaced in her debut prime time show Ek Ladki Anjani Si on Sony. she returned with an afternoon show Bhabhi on Star Plus as the new Suhana. But the common factor between her two shows is her co star Vishal Singh. In Ek Ladki Vishal played Kanchi's uncle's role and in Bhabhi he plays the role of her husband. And rumours are that the two are great friends always chatting and constantly with each other. sources also claim that the duo are dating too though they are keeping it under wraps as they don't want to become the talk of the town.

"I'm obsessed with two things - my laptop and cleanliness. If I'm not shooting then I am glued to my laptop for the entire day. Cleanliness is another thing which I'm particular about. Although, I don't clean myself I make sure that the house is kept clean. I'm fortunate as the need to pick up the broom myself hasn't aroused as yet!"

Bhanujeet Sudan aka Nihaal in Bhabhi is back with a bang. This model-turned actor left Bhabhi (due to the screenplay's demand) six months ago.

So what did he do during the break?

"I had injured my shoulder so during this break I could not even do workouts. During these few months, I modelled a lot and even went to Mauritius for an assignment."

Bhabhi's creative team called Sudan some time back asking him to rejoin. "I was more than happy to accept it. It was like homecoming for me. Nihal is back in Suhana's life once again and viewers will enjoy the dilemma of Suhana now. Though it's almost a week I've started working I am yet to shoot with Kanchi."

Despite being raised in far-off Canada for 17 years, Nihaal (played by Sudan Bhanujeet) still retains a lot of Indian values. And so he wants an arranged marriage with an Indian girl. Having set up his own eatery-cum-hotel in Toronto, Nihaal comes to India with mother Guddo. At his naani?s house in Delhi, the young man gets a taste of the Punjabi joint family. That?s also where he meets his bhabi (sister-in-law) Suhana.

The two become good friends before long and Nihaal asks Suhana to help him in his search for the perfect girl. But while the family has no knowledge of Suhana?s disastrous marriage to Vishwa, Nihaal is perceptive enough to see through. Almost taking on a mentor and a best friend?s role, he encourages Suhana to fight against the odds.
