@TM - I agree with that the story background has been changed for convenience. When the show started there were discussion on this forum how it looks like Janhvi is the one protecting her from Ashwin. She used to "hide" behind Janjvi when Ashwin came knocking around to taunt her.
In phase 2, the CVs have made Maya dark and evil but in order to justify her they are changing everything they can. Maya is going to become the most bechari killer in the history of television.

At one point I thought they had a bound script for each of their 295 episodes. Silly me! if they did, they would have caught all their own inconsistencies and maya's melodrama.

A lot of people hate Jhanvi as a mother, but we don't know anything from her POV. We only know the story from Maya's POV and perception.

Jhanvi was herself in need of treatment as she was suffering a lot with Ashwin. She always tried to protect her daughter and wept when Ashwin used to beat her. If she was so bad, why would she show Ashwin the gun? She did it for her daughter and also protected Arjun from Ashwin's bullet. I don't agree with Maya that Jhanvi was responsible for her state. There is some reason because of which Ashwin hated Maya so much else hating your own child is not so normal. Although Ashwin was a hateful character, the reason for his behavior needs to be known.

Exactly. From what's been shown so far Jhanvi and Ashwin have been far from ideal parents, but I wouldn't paint Jhanvi that negative. She tried her best to keep her family together (when the ideal option would've been to separate), and like Penfolk's said, I too remember that scene when Jhanvi was there to get a small Maya out of the dark.

I reckon Ashwin thought Maya showed some psychopathic (or whatever word you'd like to insert) tendencies, and therefore tried to squash it out of her, hoping that fear would do the trick and the relationship between the two got worse when Maya crippled Ashwin on seeing him with a third party.

We've never heard Ashwin or Jhanvi's side of the story and given what all Maya's done so far, it would perhaps be better if we heard their side.

That's the thing we don't know that yet. We have only seen Maya's story, her flashbacks. Everyone knows Maya is a pathological liar. So, how can anyone be sure that was all to Maya's childhood saga.

A mother who took her daughter's position of being mentally ill(in a society where even talking about mental disorders is taboo), I refuse to believe that she didn't help or try to help that 9 years old innocent.

+1 to each of the post above. Agreed completely.

Jhanvi is the kind of woman who is weak in love so can't let go of an abuser. But the sad part is she was not the only one being abused. Her child was being abused too. Because of her inability to let Ashwin go, she continued to put her child in harm's way.

Mays was a child who never felt important or No 1 to her parents. She will never be normal. Especially someone who's Dad abused her and Mum who chose her Dad over moving away from him for her sake if not for her own. I think the Incident when Maya was 9 is what finally separated Ashwin and Jhanvi temporarily. However, it was clear the woman was Ashwin's fool even to his death. The attempt to suicide jumping off the bridge is the prime example.

While I don't support Maya's actions at all, I will stand behind the statement that Jhanvi was truly a useless Mother. The kind no one should have. Weak, dependent and pathetic.

Maya's obsessive need to be No 1 comes directly from this issue. If her Mother had made her No 1 she would never have wound up this crazy just because of Ashwin's abuse. People do recover from those things with time and help, but Maya never got it.

I believe Jhanvi has kept all of Maya's secrets to date due to her "Guilt". Or else what Mother who wishes well for her child will cover up her ill deeds like this? She covered them up because she feels guilty. Somewhere she knows she has a huge responsibility towards making Maya into the sick and twisted person she currently is. She knows Ashwin is responsible, but she knows she is responsible too.

Her guilt has stopped her from getting Maya the help she needed a long time ago.

Just because Jhanvi was on Maya's side during pre wedding rituals does not mean, she did some sort of favor, when whole life she could not do anything, at least once in life she got chance to fulfill her duty. Calling or making somebody mad is very easy but when it comes to themselves people would realize that pain. Whole life Maya was labelled as mad and Jhanvi kept quiet but when her daughter tried to make her mad, she could not bear that pain 👏. Whatever Maya was unjustified but that does not make Jhanvi good mother either. People who are saying that Jhanvi was innocent than Maya , I don't what to say because if other are getting clean cheat for what so ever why not Maya. Its not that Jhanvi never knew anything about Ashwin, she got to know that when she was pregnant but she chose to bring the child and stay with her abusive husband. And last thing whatever story Ashwin and Jhanvi have but they had no right either to damage a 9 years old mentally.

If you have daughter like Maya, you dont need enemies.
Even if Janvi was not a good mother, if it was not possible to forgive her, drop her to vrudhashram. But, to kill the one who brought you in this world is like crossing all limits of cruelty. She's worst than serial killers.

Reality is that she wanted to kill her mom to get Arjun's sympathy, all bachpan ka daastan was just lame excuse. Otherwise why did she keep her paralysed mother with her for so many days? And on one fine day realised she needs to take bachpan ka revenge when saanjh was getting sympathy of arjun?

totally exactly. EXCUSES. She needed to justify herself to herself that's all.
I agree to everyone who says jahnvi was weak and couldn't move away from an abuser. Yes totally. She has her liabilities and weaknesses which doesn't make her a good mother. NOR DO WE KNOW WHAT HAPPENED BACK THEN IN MAYA'S CHILDHOOD. I remember something about "Maya ka Gussa". Without knowing anything about how she used to behave back then too, we cannot really comment on if her mother never tried helping her. I can clearly remember her mother taking the tag of mentally ill before saanjh and arjun. So it's baseless saying that she being called mad boiled her blood.
