I am not a regular to this forum but i do follow this serial since i like grey shaded or flawed characters and this serial has one as a protagonist.And yes i did want Maya to be a grey shaded or flawed character who had redeeming qualities as well.
But no Maya is not that she is clearly a character who is dark ,psychotic ,wrong and black no she is not merely a flawed character..Flawed or grey shaded characters are something else they are the ones who have some redeeming qualities or atleast have that one person in their life they will never hurt or they love selflessly.They are generally Anti heroes or Anti heroines who are foil's to perfectly good characters.And Maya is not that.
Now that being said Maya is still the central character and the main protagonist of this show .She is the one who drives the plot of the show and others just merely react.Without her there is no show.So she would always be the center of everything.And its her POV (no matter how wrong) that will always be at the center.And other's will merely be supporting characters.
Also now if we think about the first promo Maya was always promoted as a dark and psychotic character.She was promoted as a murderer so writers never intended to show her as a grey character yes we viewers might have wanted that but writers purpose always was to show two extreme character's Maya as the wrong one and Saanjh as the good one.Only difference is this time the wrong one was the protagonist this is what makes this show different.
When i say i like or prefer Maya's character its not because i think her actions are justified or right i just think her character is interesting and the one that creates drama without her show is boring hence prefer but i would still say she is wrong in what she has done.Its like liking Heathcliff from The Wuthering Heights its not because you think he is a heroic character who is good but because he is the interesting character who brings drama to the novel.
Saanjh is clearly the good girl here yes she has done a few wrong things but none are even half as bad as Maya's because that is her character she is supposed to be opposite of Maya hence if Maya is wrong she has to be right that is just the story.
In the end i just want all character's to face consequences of their actions be it any one just like in real life we suffer or face consequences of our action similarly i just hope this show ends with everyone facing consequences of their actions.
