Probably venting out his anger... I am not in support of violence but anger will overpower one's sense if someone does this to their mother... But to me it looked like maya was beating herself and Arjun was trying to snatch away the belt from her... Could be anything...

^^ Makes sense. Because Arjun wouldn't resort to physically violence and especially not now when he knows Maya psyche well enough. She might have been hitting herself again & will make it look like Arjun was the one who did it.

I think Vandana will witness yet another truth about maya, maya beating herself. I don't think Arjun was ever violent towards her, another staging if maya to make Arjun look like a wife beater.

Yeah, at least that's what the episodes indicate towards. Particularly, the last one. Maya vs Arjun in phase 3, her dialogues in Samay-Maya scenes explain it all.

I feel that this is one of Maya's plans. When she made VM's hands bleed, all of us thought it was a reckless mad behaviour, but by now, I think all of us would agree that anything and everything Maya does is a well planned strategy, she forces people to create a certain situation which would on its own give way to her victory.
So what I think is, Maya hurt Vandana so as to instigate Arjun to get a certain reaction, then she would exaggerate the situation and use it to her advantage.
But this one time Vandana would see Maya hurting herself.

However I don't understand this one thing, VM already knew that Maya hits herself and shows Arjun to be a wife beater so how come this makes her say Arjun is innocent, didn't she already knew that Arjun is innocent? I mean she is always like Kaala Saaya Maya, she even said earlier that she knew Arjun wouldn't leave her and it was all Maya's fault, toh fir aise message ka kya matlab?

I honestly hope that he wasn't beating her. Can not for the life of me tolerate that. If you feel she has done wrong divorce her but there's no excuse of raising hand. But if she's only putting up a show then Maya needs some serious help. Although in the promo I saw belt in his hand. :-/
